Nissan Oil Filter (genuine)

So the Stag is due for a oil/oil filter change and I thought I'd go to the local Nissan dealership and get the genuine oil and filter to try out. Oil is 7.5W/30 ($42ish for 5L) and the filter is part number 15208-53J0A ($18ish). Filter is much smaller then the usual Ryco Z145A that i use. My questions is, will this smaller filter fit alright? The sales guy there at the Nissan service centre said it's the updated oil filter which is indeed smaller, and will fit 10/98 C34's onwards. I just don't want to drain the oil and then find out the oil filter doesn't fit!

neo motors use the z442 (i think) which is the smaller filter

its the right one for a neo and will fit on anything earlier but sometimes the older larger filter catches on something

Just did it, yes it fits, no worries. A lot easier to fit then the Z145A.

have you been running the larger Z145A filter on it (ie it fits?) if so I would stick with that for sure.

Z145A and Z224 have the same thread but the 145A is much larger and therefore a better filter.

So, the bigger the better then? I thought the Z224 had different filtration properties (?) or something.

On a side note, not entirely convinced with the Nissan 7.5W/30 oil. Maybe in winter but I have a feeling it gets too hot in ADL for that oil.

they won't be different internally within a given brand....the larger ones just have larger surface areas.

and I agree....nissan's recommendation sounds more relevent to a snow bound country to me. 10 or 15w40 or even 20w50 if the motor is a little worn
