Ever Dobbed Someone In?

Hi guys,

What's the number or website to actually dob people in.

I had an incident this morning where a green P plater in a black VE SV6 commie was driving like hoon in traffic along lower heidelberg rd between banksia and bourke rd north - city bound. He then lined up next to me and wanted me to race him.

I shake my head at him to give the clear intention of "NO", then he rolls down his window and starts making kissy faces at me etc...

*sigh* No wonder why some people wrap themselves around trees/poles.

I looked in the VicPol website no numbers or email address relating to dobbing these idiots in.

All I see is 000, and I do not really want to call that number as it is not an emergency.

What do you guys think?

Some say that dobbing is not effective because:

- we're not qualified to take matters into our own hands

- we cannot verify that the driver/car in question had the intention to offend

- sounds like a long, roundabout and time consuming process involving a lot of verification on your part

- you will stress yourself out eyeballing every car out there

- its not our job

On the other hand, if the offender is really creating damage and danger to others then absolutely call the Police as you would if you saw a house on fire or someone lying on the side of the road.

All i can do to that post is lol... seriously, i LOL'd that hard all the boys here @ work just looked at me more oddly than usual.

EPA notices are given out on the basis of your car is making bad emissions.

Now, when you go there, they stick the sniffer up the exhaust and say "well hey, those emissions are just too good, you must have a aftermarket ECU"

How the fk is that fair?

You are better, they know you are better. YOu've paid good money to have your car tuned better than it was in 1992 due to better fuels on offer these days...

But "onoes" its not "factory". Boom, you now have a rego suspension/EPA defect.

So you are doing absolutely no harm to the environment at all, infact its doing a better job than Nissan due to better fuels/control/tunes... yet you get punished for it.

So fk'in hell yes im going to report cars that spew black plumes of smoke all over the place. Simply because those are the people the EPA/Police should be policing.

Those people should be taken off the road because they are actually the ones harming the environment. Afterall, the EPA is meant to PROTECT the ENVIRONMENT

Of course its not our job nor should we eyball every car or person - but if something is just plain obvious, I feel it is our duty as the public to inform the people with the authority to follow up.

(Funnily enough in some cases these small crimes/offences are linked to larger crimes)

I guess that's why so many offences/crimes slip through the cracks, because we as the general public are not encouraged to dob in these people.

I think the government should have a number/email for "low level" offences - only problem is it will cost lots of $$$ for them.

once i watched some car full of 'sick flamin mongrels' in peak hour traffic giving it heaps to their commondore everychance they got along bell street and then all of a sudden 'BANG' straight into the car infront of them..

then they tried to do a runner by driving off into traffic as the car they hit had pulled over into a side street - so i went and got this dickheads plate etc and called the cops.

I know if some dickhead hit my car and then tried to drive off I would hope someone got their details so I thought why shouldnt I dob him in.

I've reported drunk/drugged drivers swerving all over the road/wrong side of the road, hitting guardrails, etc. Not sure if anything ever becomes of it but I feel better for doing it.

If they can't afford a properly running car, they don't deserve to be on the road.

I've been tempted to report people to the EPA when they have REALLY deserved it, but I've just been too lazy.

Haven't dobbed anyone in but i've been tempted lately. Last couple of weeks some muppet in a VZ SS has been ripping skids and driving like an absolute eff wit up my street. has an obscenely loud exhaust too.

Personally i think the epa is a load of shit, i used to have a 3 and a half inch exhaust all the way through and i loved it but every 6 to 8 months id be epa'd which is fair enough i knew the risks.

In my eyes for a system to be fair their has to be no bias when i say bias have you been driving down the road and a truck vents its exhaust gasses or a Harley goes by you and its decibel rating would be in the millions yet its OK because that's how it came from factory and with every wanker harping on about fuel economy yet when you do something about it you get EPA as r31 nismo was saying.

all it is is sheer nannying and pestering if they really cared cars over a certain age would be crushed and if you couldn't afford a new car you catch the public transport system decibel ratings would be universal hence why i believe EPA is bullshit

Whatever happened to the dob in a hoon hotline? If I could be bothered I'd have reported dozens of wankers making life difficult on the roads. I've nearly been wiped put 3 times by 3 different piece of shit VN bombadores trying to show off within a matter of months. Each of those wankers thought it was hilarious. If I drove a $2 piece of shit as well then I guess I wouldn't care if I nearly crashed either.

As for the EPA, I agree with ash's point of view. I don't like being choked to death by the fumes coming outta other peoples cars and agree they should be the ones being reported instead of just making bullshit reports cos a car has a nice exhaust
