Engine Stalls When Trying To Stop Or Slow Down

Hey guys,

Anyone has the problem when you are trying to slow down or stop the car and the revs goes to 0 and the engine dies?

Its happening to mine and i have to throw the clutch or turn the ignition to start it back.

Its getting more frequent.

Any ideas?

is your car turbo? if yes, what sort of bov do you have and how old are your plugs?

i had an issue with my 33 stalling when lifting off due to the plugs getting old and worn and even though i still had the stock bov it was going a bit rich on lift off and the plugs weren't able to cope. new plugs fixed it for me.

yup.. my car is turbo.

using a greddy bov.

i did a service and changed to new plugs..

trying playing ard with the idle, bov but the prob is still happening...

happened before and after the service even.

Sounds like a problem I had about a year ago... ...But I was also losing power when putting the foot down...

Turned out to be the bracket that the CAS (Cam Angle Sensor) is mounted to was broken about half way through... ...I think it is aluminium... ...So maybe more of a tear...

I also learned how to test to see if it is the CAS bracket...

While the motor is running press on the plastic timing belt cover from the front towards the back and see if that changes the tone of the motor...

If it does... ...Take the plastic cover off and press on the CAS it's self and see if it changes the tone of the motor more or less than with the cover on...

Then if it does again... ...remove the CAS and the CAS bracket and have a good look at the bracket... ...most likely you'll only see a very very fine crack somewhere... ...But under load the crack could open up a bit and get the CAS out by a few degrees... ...Totally messing up the timing of you motor...

Oh... ...And don't do what I did have have a broken bracket with no other car to go and get a new bracket with...
