RBs engines rarely over-heat, my gtr overheated once and it was a block top-tank (radiator), for the coolant to change colour then its either there is alot of dust, dirty stuff in the over-flown or rust in the radiator. Is there any trace of oil in your coolant?

...unless it's in a VL

Majority of overheating issues are related to air-pockets in the system.

It's not as easy as just emptying the coolant and re-filling - which I dare say majority of the population/mechanics do.

It takes a few days to properly get rid of "all" the air in the system.

it also helps to open the air bleed valves. if you don't then you can get air in there which can weeks to come out. even just opening up the heater and running the car might still leave you with air bubbles which you might not know you have in there until you check the coolant 1 day and find it is low.

  • 2 weeks later...

i used about 40 litres of de-mineralised water and flushed my radiator about 8 times , in between i drove the car for about an hour and put the heater on for 15 mins.

Every time i flushed the radiator (daily) i got sediment and brown water its no cleaner from first to last flush ? Is it from the block internally .

The radiators on a RB26 are aluminium or copper so im guessing its the block or heater core . HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!
