Yes it's revenue raising, but at the same time, the "speed limit" is posted as the maximum speed at which you are permited to travel in optimum conditions.

The whole "Speed Kills" issue has nothing to do with any of this.

We all know it's a bunch of crap.

However.......

If you don't like the speed limits, then don't obey them, but don't complain when you get caught breaking the law.

It's a law that applies to everyone.

Not just those who choose to obey it.

Driving is a privelige not a right.

This is a typrical case of being "unrealistic"...

the issue is "unrealistic measurement of being 3km over". I dont think anyone disagrees with "excessive" speeding, but to be ~5-8km over, & most times it's for that second of concentration, sloping road, overtaking...etc is "unrealistic"

How can the consumer be supplied an inaccurate product that passes Government standards, then have the onus passed onto the consumer for obeying this inaccurate product for it's faults. Alternate Issues like heat expanding tyres, tyre wear, etc..will effect the speedo readings.

Whilst I'm in a b!tching mood, why target "lovers of cars" for EPA's, RWC, etc.. when I believe we look after our cars better than 95% of those everyday drivers, with bald uniflated tyres, blowing blue smoke into the atmo... As far as cops "oh & the EPA" are concerned, I've lost all respect for them and they get no assistance from me & many others. The reason is because they talk the talk but dont walk the walk, they say "it's OK to dob in someone" but they won't dob in themselves when knowingly camera's read incorrect, revenue raising of fines, ticketing targets..etc. Only recently have they started to expose these issue's & good I hope it continues.

On a last note, "the law (gov, cops, epa) have found it's own loop holes & thinks it's hold the aces" for now maybe, but you can't win each hand for long, when socitey bites em on the @ss next time they need help, they'll realise they should have listened earlier.

Just a quick comment.Radar detectors are illegal but radio stations are doing the exact same thing by disclosing the position of radars. If the main objective is to slow people down then surely radar detectors will do this in the areas where a radar is present.

Karina

I do my fast stuff on the track and a couple of "safe" places. I'll just reiterate that I haven't had a fine in over 10 years and have never caused an accident. I'll let you work that out yourself. I have a similar argument as Mesh stated on the standards, but I don't think they set the limits appropriately either and then put a camera up and collect revenue without evidence of it being a blackspot.

One more time, if the voting majority continue to break a law it is their free will it means they do NOT agree with it. Government is there to serve the majority and the disadvantaged minorities (yes I studied politics also at Uni) and with so many ignoring a particular law then public mandate renders it unlawful or else the government is self serving and corrupt.

Funky, how legal are all the mods on your machine, or is that like murder too :D ? Seriously if so many get fined it is a combination of the voters not agreeing with the legislation, the speeds set too low or idiots just going too fast.

Can i drive fast?? Hell yeah and I've caught a 160kmh slide after aquaplaning at sandown. Maybe even I'm a pretty skilled driver but I am not mandating excessive speed for the conditions on the public roads. Most don't know what is excessive until they have a lose or accident. They certainly don't get any help during driver ed to get a license.

I want an accountable government and police!!!!!

I also want a thinking public who are prepared to educate themselves once in a while.

well, that points at me ,since ive lost my liscence plenty of times .

but the most recent one was the day i got my 33 i was speeding in the rain at night in the 50k zone street when i got flashed.. i still havnt got a liscence. till next year. but thats just a rare snap. for example speeding on a highway is more easier to counter radars etc. ive done 250+ on the hwy and not been cought and ive done 55 in a 50k zone and been cought. its just i hate the buggers hiding in those little streets

be carefull guys.
