I know someone will direct me toward the best person/company, or it may be even one of our resident car importers(Beer Baron, Iron Chef ...) that will get my business, and that will make me happy.

I'm in Melb, and seriously I cannot find anything decent in the country/carsales that catches my attention.

There are a few of those ones on Carsales, but they are mostly modded, or they have questionable kms, 30,000kms with worn steering wheel and worn seats, pff, no way, maybe more like 130,000kms - so I'm after a fresh one, with some history backing up the odo readings and its condition.

One of those that you can see with the seat covers and steering covers on in Japanese car yards. Something like this, but hopefully cheaper:Excellent condition R34 V-spec II

I'm basically after a 100% stock, excellent condition V-Spec II or the Nur. My preference is silver, or blue if no silver ones are around.

If its impossible to find stock I would be willing to go for a minor modded ones, exhaust, wheels, pods but nothing that would have damaged the interior(drilling dash for gauges etc):Slightly modded V-spec II

So, what do people reckon - who do I go and talk to that will get me this beast - and I want to have 100% confidence that when these guys buy it its gonna be ok, and inspected properly.

I'm in no hurry, so basically would love to have a car by 1st October, so second half of the year is what I'm looking in getting it in my garage.

Anybody, I'm all ears, listening to suggestions.

Gotta get the ball rolling.

I've sent you a pm too. My advice is don't choose a broker/importer/exporter based on price or promise of cheap cars. You want someone who is not afraid to search for you for a few months if need be, and someone who is not afraid to inspect and reject a few cars before finding the mint condition one you're after. in return you'll need a realistic budget in order to win that special car when it does come up and apart from that just some patience!

Good luck with the hunt. With the right advice you will be able to get something really special. :domokun:

^^ Well said. I'm sure I said it elsewhere, but speak to a few people and see who you feel most comfortable working with too.

Richard if you ever want to come and work for Iron Chef Imports, let me know :domokun:

im after the same thing can you email me details thanks mate

what is it that one would expect to be the difference between a V-Spec II and a V-Spec II Nur? I ask as I don't know and I'm admittedly hoping that you'll collectively pardon my laziness and someone will take 2 minutes to type 3 lines to explain!?

    • Are those 1000cc side feeds? If so, that's part of your problem. I have 1480cc and they idle at stoich on 98RON, and all the way to E85. Also your coil packs.....
    • Update for the sake of closure   Ended up getting the intercooler piping all sorted, new plugs and yellow jacket coils, and she was idling mint until it warmed up while I was bleeding the cooling system. Found the misfire to be localised to cyl 3 by unplugging coilpacks, ran a compression test, that checked out, then decided to get a mate to check if that spark plug was firing out of the motor. Upon cranking it over, with the injectors disconnected, the car actually fired and ran on a couple cylinders and heaps of fuel came out the top of cyl 3 I'd say that injector's either spraying incorrectly or spraying far too much, which is fine as I'm planning on replacing them anyway I'm planning on making about 250kW on flex fuel, and have a set of 1000cc injectors from ozautosport, obviously overkill but I'm planning on building the motor and running more boost further down the line, do you reckon they'd be too big for a smooth idle on 98? Thanks for the replies gents, much appreciated
    • I'm confused. You said you want to "remove the clear coat from most panels" but it sounds like you are actually doing a full respray? Few random things to add -  If you chase the blistered paint with 120 grit, I can almost guarantee you'll chase it down to bare metal (that's fine). But if you paint the car from here, you'll have nice little indents where ever the blistered paint was. The new paint won't magically level out the low areas, you need to fill them. Which leads me to the main point I wanted to add, make sure the whole car is flat before you paint it. All those areas with blistered paint you sanded out, make sure to fill them and triple check they are flat with a block guide coat. I'd also check the whole car is flat with a large block and guide coat but yeah up to you if you want to go that far.
    • 300hp (225kw) is barely outside the standard turbo's range with a bit of extra boost in it (200ish). If you are going to change the turbo you should aim for 250-300kw (330-400hp) to make the expense worthwhile
