Brake Fluid Recommendation

Hey, I'm planning on bleeding the brakes pretty soon and was wondering whats the best fluid you can get for street/track use. Last time I bought a bottle of valvoline super heavy duty dot 3 which wasn't too bad but I've heard people using dot 4 and 5 on there skylines. I was under the impression that you could only use whats specified on the brake master cylinder cap which says 'only use dot 3'. So is it safe to use dot 4 or 5?

you can always use a better version (upgrade). Eg. if your system is say, dot3, you can use dot 3/4/5.

FYI, the penrite stuff can be bought from autobarn.

@Gabnr, I though dot 5 was silicon stuff, and couldn't be used in dot3/4 systems? or am I thinking of something else?

I know u can run dot4 in a dot3 system ok though...

Ahh...not you can't use DOT5. But you can use DOT 4 and DOT5.1

You're seals will not handle DOT5.

How long ago did you buy brake fluid? DOT 3 is normally very hard to find.

But yer DOT 4 and 5.1 are safe to use, I would recommend Penrite SIN.

Also Castrol Super Response (silver bottle) is ok too

Best fluid that I've used is the Project Mu G4355, around $100 a litre.
