Cut out the bonnet, take the transparency down, then add it as a new layer??

basically get a picture of a car with the bonnet open, or an engine on a similar angle

paste it onto a new layer

then

copy the bonnet off the car

paste that onto a layer above the engine

play with the opacity

then trim it all up etc
