First time ever getting on the drag strip, with the shittest and cheapest street tires you can get, and the hardest suspension and people were saying the track conditions werent the best. I just went out for fun i have a 94 R32 GTR, A few mods done Turbos etc. STOCK INTERNALS. Anyway My first run was 12.4 Then my second run was 12 FLAT. It was getting late and they would not let me run again. So best time was 12 flat my question is with a bit of practice and good tires and better suspension how much do you think i can shave of that time?

You can run 11.5 on factory turbos, decent tyres.

WTF !! damm and i would of thought with my little mods, 316AWKW i would of easily went into the 11s... I was told my car was capable of low 11's with the mods i have. I didnt no id have to struggle to get those times. I only come to think that the suspension and tires play a massive role

You have an old car, and probably need more practice more than anything

Also remember the transfer case might be a tad lazy and so on.

All these things add up to a little bit of time here, little bit of time there etc and overall you'll find another 0.3 or a sec (as an example)

Lol ! Yes well im on my way to getting most of the bits rebuilt..Once i do the internals thats pretty much most of the engine back to scratch... Transfer case lazy ? thats a new one Might have to look into replacing that aswell then.

Mine ran 11.13 @ 128.5 on a 1,85 60ft with 317RWKW, stock internals and Apexi low mounts. Suspension was stiff Ohlins, with a really hard crappy set of Avon road tyres.

Excellent time!! Hmmm Maybe my take off wasnt the best . But how many runs did it take you to manage that ?

People go too soft on suspension in IRS cars to their own detriment.

Now I can't say I have a huge amount of experience in dragging a street GTR but I have raced quite a few, many in the 10 second range and one running 9.4s.

Every one had old stock suspension, all ran 1.4 60fts and the heaviest of them all at 1740kg ran 1.3 60ft on stock suspension.

Maybe once your really getting ETs down to 8s and 7s firming up is needed but for most street GTRs I personally would go with the old stock struts and some real good tyres,

Robbie.
