Heya.

My cefiro's speedo stopped working a few days ago and of course my HICAS light came on aswell. This afternoon i got underneath and removed the speedo cable and driven gear from the box and it all appears to be in working condition. However when i spin the gear with my fingers the speedo dosn't move which it should, in theory (as far as i understand).

Can i safeley assume the cable has broken somewhere and replace it?

And if so, how do I got about this?

nah no way you can spin the speedo cable fast enough to see it move . pull the inner out of the cable . should slide out . if its broken only half of it will come out

Yeah, sounds like the cable is broken somewhere in the line...did you try turning it from the other end?

Replacing it isnt as daunting as it first seems...the cable goes through the firewall right near the clutch master cylinder / steering collum openings. Disconnect the cable from the cluster and the box and unbolt that plate, take it all out and put a new one in. They're pretty cheap from JustJap/Sliding Performance/Nengun, etc.

It will be broken at the instrument cluster. Get a new cable from Nissan.

It cost me about $90 to get a new cable from Nissan and arrived in 2 days. It's worth getting brand new though.

Mine was broken where it joins at the cluster too.

before you buy a new speedo cable just make sure it is clipped in properly behind the instrument cluster, mine stopped working and it had just unclipped itself. as that other person mentioned it is quite easy to get to.

Another one for broken cable where it plugs into the back of the cluster.

The tip of the cable is plastic (fragile) so you have to be careful reinstalling the cluster (thats when mine broke).

Had my cable broken near the cluster too. Buy a new one. You need one

I had this same problem thought it was broken so bought another one, only to find when i removed it was not broken on either end.

The shaft that goes into the back of the cluster may not be pushing up enouogh ( stretch the spring or find another way of extending it.
