Hey guys I just brought a R33 GTS-T and it has a Greddy FMIC with the piping for it run under where the fuse box is along with a pod filter and as you know you are only aloud to have one of these mods in Vic.

I then tried to put in the factory airbox to circum this, later realising that the factory snorkel wont fit becasue of the structure of the FMIC piping, its in the way. In order for it to fit I will need to modifiy the snorkel closing the already small gap that it sucks in cold air even more. Is there any other way or product that I can use to replace this or alter it so that is legal?

Thansk alot guys :D

Nope. unless you cut the bottom of the airbox, use a cold air feed, and pray it doesn't get noticed.

I'm also fairly certain the Greddy kit requires you to cut a hole in the body yes?

If so, then you're illegal anyway so not sure why you are worrying.

The only kits that are legal are the return-flow style coolers that don't cut the drivers side and use the factory holes to match the airbags for legalities

I have decided to get the factory snorkel modified to fit in with the FMIC piping, like this...

Anyone know a good plastic welder or somewhere else were I can get this done?

Appreciate it,

Ross

by "modifying" the factory snorkel you will actually be making it thinner so your making it more restrictive. i was int he same boat as you. had a front mount that ran form under the battery and wanted to make it legal. even if you have a factory air box your FMIC setup is still illegal because you have a hole cut out under your battery tray. in order to make this 100% legal you have to get it engineered and it does not pass all the time. and it does cost a fair bit to get it engineered.

what i then did was sell my FMIC setup and bought a return flow FMIC from justjap and this uses your factory pipes. and your air box fits and the snorkel does not need to be modified. that by far is the safest and best route to follow in my books.

if you open your bonnet it will look stock as a rock. only was would be is to look through your front bar.

restricted but not by much... As for your turn flow you might have it installed although you are still left with the whole from your original FMIC, which is still deemed as illegal correct me if I'm wrong.
