I've been working hard on restoring a KE30 which I was given :(. As this project is starting to wind up.. a complete RB25 has wound up in my possession. A have had a very strong desire to own a classic skyline and now i'm starting to look around a little bit. Had a look at a C210 240K on the weekend but the rear end damage put me off. The car was brought to my attention because a friend knew of it. How do I go about finding these things other than just word of mouth? ;).

Would you be interested in buying my HR31 and putting the RB25 in that? It's bordering on a classic ;)

Failing that, jump on Ozdat, as a couple of sedans/coupe pop up from time to time.

I've was looking for a coupe (KHGC110) for about 5 year,

in the end my brothers friend had one, so now I have it.

In Tassie, these are extremely rare to find.

good luck, if you find one, this site has lots of information on them

The Datsun Skyline C210 is a different car to the Datsun 240K (C110) in Australia. The 240k (metal grill) ran from 73 -77, and the C210-C211 (plastic grill) ran from 78-82.

I'd wager the car you had a look at was a blue C210 coupe. Did these guys actually talk to you? They wouldn't have a bar of me, and I've been chasing that specific hunk of rubbish for a couple of years.

In my opinion, word of mouth is actually the best way to get hold of the car you want. You might find what you want on ebay or trading post (2 C210s available this week) but as you are competing with a bigger market the cars often sell for more.

Can I ask why you want that car? :) I wont be giving out details unless they say it's ok :).

My parents had a 240k which looks like a skyline C110 to me in the photos.. this is the car i'm tracking down.. but a C210 would be awesome too.

i just assumed you didnt want to buy it, if your still thinking it over then no problem.

well my plan with the car wud be to buy it, take it to scrap metal and watch it get crushed, i just get my thrills that way :) . do you mean if i wud part it out or repair it, if it took my fancy i wud be after repairing and restore.

240k and C110 are the same thing in Australia.

I've been chasing a smashed up C210 coupe in Melbourne (maybe the same on as you) - it would feed parts to a friends C211 coupe project/a C210 coupe project and to my own C210 sedan.

Is this the red one that tooted/waved at me on Hampstead rd heading towards the city around Christmas time? It looked really tidy and sounded nice as it went past.

I have spent alot of time and money on the engine ,engine bay and tuning .It also has good 5speed suspention bushes ect.It needs new paint and interior .As you probably know it is almost impossible to find one with very little rust.It took a long time to find this one as it has vertually none.I want at least $5500 for it.And yes it is a HGC110 1974 badged as skyline in Japan

A 110? what sort of price is realistic though? Z cars of this era are like 15G but datsuns are 500 bucks.. make sense of this :) .

5500 seems like a reasonable price for a good one.. Would love to come and have a look :).

I have found the more I mention it to people the more C110s I find, they are out there but generally tucked away covered in cobwebs waiting for the project to start! Might start a thread on my progress if anybody is keen to hear it .

I'll email you some photos tomorrow if you like.

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
