Hi there, I am thinking of doing upgrades on my car but I am unsure of what I can and cant do and when it will go from street legal to not. I want maximum power for the street because I race as well. I am running a 13sec at the moment and that is with 201.4 rear wheels, 15 - 12 psi, injectors running at 90%, Apexi boost controller, after market computer Impul? The engine is stock, front mount intercooler, spit fire coil packs, new sparks, K sport adjustable suspension, 3 inch stainless high flow exhaust straight through. I have been looking these following but i need as much advice as i can: - thanks

ECU Vipec -

Injectors - 725cc

1000cc .....I'm thinking to opt for 1000cc to give plenty of allowance to run E85 ??

Turbo - GT30 internal wastegate

GT35R

Outlet manifolds :

Fuel Pump - Walbro

Head: cams, valve springs, grind, metal head gasket

Inlet Manifold - Hypertune

Diff - LSD Centre Nismo

Dyno -

there are a million upgrade threads, go read them

and besides, all of the mods you have listed so far are illegal, not to mention the ones you plan on fitting

so any legalities, you have already "broken" so thats a non-issue - ie; adding more mods

how much do u want to spend and how much power do you want

walbro is ass, dont even bother

ok, thanks for the tip about walbro. I have 10g to spend. with the power, I still want to be able to drive on the road legally with an engineering cert but at far as I can go without having to get a cage to race. Does that make any sense??

Im just wondering what part of walbro is ass mate?

Im making 400rwhp and my walbro is perfect.. please explain why everyone on here jumps on the band wagon and says there crap, im just really curious?

well, as i said, the car is illegal now or chances are, it is very close

given you have intake mods, remapped ecu, exhaust, intercooler etc

so, the "illegal" is the same, ie your car is probably illegal already

no idea what the Vipec costs, ask around, most guys go for the powerfc

injectors - your call, the larger you go, the harder to tune and typical more fuel usage

turbo - pick whatever you like

outlet manifold - stock is fine for around 300rwkw +

fuel pump - bosch 044 or higher or tomei or nismo - walbro is ass, dont even risk it

head - dont need any head work, and it will just eat up your $$ budget for litte to no gains

inlet manifold / plenum = pointless, no gains, eat up your $$$ budget

diff - whatever diff you like

clutch - youll need upgraded

factor in upgraded AFM, sub $300 for Z32 and probably a cold air intake

the issue with a fuel pump is it must be reliable, paramount

it must work non-stop endlessly and maintain pressure

if it stops working its ok, as the engine stalls

its only when it cant keep up or maintain pressure

then the engine has enough fuel to keep running but not enough under its max load

so it leans out and your precious engine goes bang

most guys assume the walbro's can do what the manfucturer or specs state

the issue is from memory they are rated at that flow rate at 15v or even 15.5v

in your skyline it typically wont get near that, more like 13v so it flows less

there are numerous dead engines floating around from underperforming walbros

or walbro's that have failed. so for the sake of saving $100 at the most, do you want to risk your whole engine setup

a direct nismo or tomei item thats direct fit, and particulary the nismo items are rated prefectly to suit the skyline

i mean if you spent 10g on something and skimped $100 to get a lower spec item

only to find it was the achilies heel in the whole setup, surely you would mitigate that risk as best you can

I was defected with the original exhaust and had this put on with RTA advice. I know about the intercooler. I have no idea about the ECU as it came stock with the car, so its remapped is it? Im after like what brands also you would recomened.

Fuel pump has been on the car now nearly 2yrs at 250rwkw now its at 300rwkw no problems at all.

its wired in to run the full voltage.

also a mates 32 is running same pump same setup with over 400rwhp for last 3yrs no dramas.

guess u guys just like your big brand names and like spending over your budget even though its not needed

well not really, i mean most guys wont risk their $10k+ motor on a walbro pump

the walbro would be sub $200 anyway and the geniune nismo or tomei would be $300 ish

so its $100 difference, hardly big budget

each to their own hey

im using one its proven and it works so i dont see the point in spending extra $

im not goin to not buy one because a bunch of guys on here jump on the band wagon because 1 failed

bosch tomei nismo can fail 2 you know. not everything is flawless.

never mind im blind and have a laggy connection tonight

yet cant say ive ever seen a genuine walbro fail, hell not even a fake. jump on evo oz, many all wheel 300+kw monsters there, and best believe it takes alot of juice to get a 4cyl up that high. yet dont get too offended when you realize how easily they do it

it all depends how much power your after?

stock manifold becomes a restriction at around 280rwkw but is capable of more.

as for the turbo, an internal gate gt3076 would be fine for around 260-280rwkw but imo if you want more than this its best to look at external gate and better manifold, starts getting expensive. yes theres people making more than this with internal gate gt30s on stock manifolds, but theres also plenty of people who fall short of that.

injectors depend once again on power, 555s are enough for a gt30 in most cases, even with e85. but if i had my time again i would have gone for nismo 740s, but thats me.

have to agree with paul on the walbro, had 1 die after only a few months, not sure if it was genuine or a fake tho. then went to a 044, been going strong for 4+ years in 3 different cars

guess u guys just like your big brand names and like spending over your budget even though its not needed :)

I Just prefer doing my gambling at the casino, not in my cars.

anyways, your only gonna get away with so much with a stock engine so thats gonna be your limiting factor. Id just go turbo, comp, jectors, pump, aim for 250-260 and tune it up safe for the track.

the container i have with dead ones in it....... next to one bosch (that was 5 years old and ate rust)

It seems weird that your injectors are nearly maxing out at 200rwkw :S

Have a look in the dyno thread for some ideas

well the apexi boost controler says they are running at 90% and there stock the car starts to ping with any more power and boost ..
