Hi compnerd, 10 mm (with standard PCD) needs a little bit of die grinding of the head to clear the lobes and set of valve springs designed for that lift. Standard valve springs won't handle that lift, they coil bind when set at the right seat pressure.

Unless you are unbelievably lucky, you will have to reset the tappet clearances with different thickness shims. If you haven't done this before, it can be a long and teadious job as you have to remove the camshafts every time to fit a different thickness shim. You can either grind the standard shims (if they are too thick) or do the measurements first and then order the right thickness shims.

I assume you are aware that 280 degree camshafts (particlularly the inlet) are fairly lumpy? We wouldn't consider using them in an engine with less than 700 bhp. The extra horsepower gained under that, is simply not worth the off boost lumpiness.

Hope that is of some help

Happy New Year

g'day sydney kid,you said these cams would not be favourable under 700 hp,I havent set the engine up yet,and I havent really had much to do with gtr's,I have a pair of hks2540,hks f-con pro v 280 cams+springs, vernier cam gears, what sort of power should I expect from this set up? how will the fuel system cope?

regards stuart
