Check carsales.com.au - they are a dime a dozen. Loads of them for sale - IMO it's far from easy to sell a mid 90's Jap Import these days unless you are realistic about the price... which a lot of people don't want to do.

im in the market for one in a few months ;) been looking around recently and seen a few standard ones (which is good) for around 21-22ish and mildly modded ones for 25-30 depending on how good it really is.. saw a 325awkw one for like 30 looked real nice too.

saw a really nice midnight purple with TE37s (white) and it was 22k!!! i was like woah good buy and the price was NEG

as r31nismoid said its a buyers market, there are so many for sale they can choose colour, mods, price, wheels, age, kilometers and then when they meet all that criteria, they can then hassle on price as there would be a few meeting their criteria

as long as you are patient and dont need the cash instantly youll be able to sell, the key is what are you willing to let it part for

Do a bit of a price research as well.

Price your car at a reasonable / competitive price and you will gain more interest.

I hate all the 'dreamers' out there when they list all the mods that has been done and they expect to get the money back on the mods they have done.

"1st owner in AUS, only one in AUS, genuine V-Spec, low K's, bla bla bla..."

^^ Yes you can list that but I wasn't born yesterday, I did car hunting myself when looking for my R32 GTR.

You can tell when ppl list all the mods to make it sound good and throw you a ridiculous price.

List what ever you want but can it justify that price you put it at...

In fact I was thinking about the average prices for all the GTRs:

R32 GTS - $6k - $8k

R32 GTR - $13k - $18k

R33 GTS - $10k -$15k

R33 GTR - $21k - $27k

R34 GTT - $16k - $22k

R34 GTR - $33k - $39k

Cars would be cheaper if

- they are the first year models

- they had rebuilds

- had accidents

- they have a lot of mileage

- no record books (japanese)

Really really rough guide as I've no idea about GTSes (so open for correction!).

Skylines unfortunately don't retain their values like Ferraris, if they did their original owners would buy their own cars back.

Agree with the price for 32 and 33 but not 34. 34 is where the price will jump heaps due to the number of variants they have. I'd say anywhere between 39k-85k.

But if you ask me how much I'd ask for if I have mine up for sale? 30k. Dont know if thats realistic to anyone or not but its not like I'm gonna sell it anyway.

Yes its real, is the R34 GTR really worth 3 times as much as the GTT equivalent? The other models are pretty much twice the cost of their RWD counterparts, few complaints there. That's pretty much right considering the retail, past and current prices in Japan. I don't value the import taxes, GST or insurances that a car might have accumulated in road costs over the years, they don't increase the value of the car.

Mate, any car that's more than 10 years old is going to be ass depending on who drove it. Based on some of the R34s that were sold under $50k they were not ass at all.

Off thread but the R34 GT-R has just about reached that arbitrary figure of $50K.

So if I was desperate to sell, $49K sounds a lot better than $50K.

If I was a buyer, the car looked good as it's just come off the ship; hasn't come from Hokkaido; runs well; compression tests give even results; no damage or badly repaired damage; paint & upholstery are perfect - but history is lacking...

I wouldn't offer any more than $48K.

If I'm a seller, the car has had a trouble-free history; log history from Japan as well as my own; auction papers in hand; dyno results are impressive; low Kms genuine as confirmed by other aspects of the car...

I wouldn't accept less than $53.5 for my 2000 model.

Funny that! $50K is slap-bang in the middle!

Back on thread... the man who bought my R33 GT-R 7 years ago, had been searching for 8 months and my one was the 13th he'd inspected. He was prepared to be patient. Bought it off me for $39K.

Funny that! There's that barrier again! $40K barrier!

So, if I was trying to sell a really good R33 GT-R to-day, I'd be hoping that there's a stack of other sellers out there trying to establish a mental barrier of say $25K.

And if I was in the market looking for a good one, and saw one at $25.5K, I'd be wondering, "How good is that one?"

Likewise, if I saw one at $22K, I'd be wondering, "What's wrong with it?"

All in all, on inspection, we all still have to scrutinise it with a fine-tooth-comb. So the Q is, how do we get the prospective buyer to call up?

It would be a bit easier for me - I'd be advertising the car as... "being owned by a mature aged gent who's 4 years off a Seniors Card" lol

(BTW - Jim Richards already qualifies for a Seniors Card hehe)

I'll be in the market in the next few months as well. Been doing lots of research and I've got a pretty good idea on price:condition ratio. There are lots on offer on carsales that have been up for a while - seems like a tough market.

Hopefully when the time comes there will be more to choose from locally for my specific taste - Otherwise It's looking like importing again like my R32. evilGTR's r33 looks the goods - I wouldn't hesitate to inspect if I was in the market for one now.

Anyone reading this looking to sell their immaculate late model series 3 r33 gt-r in the coming 3-6months remember me - shoot us a PM! :thumbsup:

Basically I'd be happy with low 20s, but if it's only lowball offers and timewasters I'd hang onto her a bit longer - still an awesome car to drive! :worship:

    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......  
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
