Hey guys,

I'm interested in buying a R32 GTR.

Any problems with this car that I should no about or any tips and etc?

I've seen lots that have rebuilt engines, does this mean that I shouldn't buy one that doesn't have a rebuilt engine?

I hope their not like rotarys which needs to be rebuilt every 100,000kms...

without going into detail , buy something stock , original engine with original kms sounds tough but they are out there , 25k price range , anything under that forget it , paint missing on the manifold and cam cover is a good indicator of age ! majority of cars around the 100,000 km range will have some paint missing depending on how hard its been treated . chassis rail dents/bends , panel allignment . Anything rebuilt is ok just get it checked out by a mechanic . :thumbsup:

Look out very carefully for any rust. Obtain the VIN # and check it against the VINS Fasted thread on this forum. Hidden rust is common on cars from Hokkaido or North Honshu.

Compression testing is advisable.

Due to age, also check suspension, bushes, joints.

Hopefully service history is good/complete.

Don't be discouraged if you come across some that are owned by people who are anything but enthusiasts. So be patient.

After finding one > buying one, you might wish to upgrade the brakes unless it's a later model V-Spec.

Reputable importers are good sources to use. A couple are on here - Hello-o-o-o-o?

Azn, just remember you get what you pay for - a poor quality/cheap 32 GT-R is a good recipe for a nightmare. Spend at least $20K on one and you'll get something nice.

Sounds like you need to do a bit of research on this site.... Its not the type of car to buy without being WELL informed.

There are plenty of terrible examples for sale and you DO NOT want to end up with one of them cause it will spend more time off the road than on and will cost you a small fortune.

Edit: They are nothing like rotaries needing 100,000km rebuilds... the reason sooo many have been rebuilt is that people boost them high and drive them very hard and track them and then they go pop. Any car that has been rebuilt has either not been well looked after or driven... other than when some owners decide to take out the engine and rebuild it with forged internals as they plan to modify the car and want to strengthen the engine

Thanks for the advise guys!

I'll do some further research on these forums and I've made up my mind and decided that this is the car that I want!

Can anyone post some links for important threads about the BNR32 just in case I miss it in the Search feature of the forums?
