Hi all,

I'm trying to get a N1 engine identified whilst still in the car. Can anyone tell me where I would find the I.D. numbers? I know I'm after the '24U' stamped on the block....I just don't know where to find it. The car is interstate so I need to let the owner know where to look.

Cheers.

If its in the same spot as my rb25det. Its located on the passenger side on the block just above the sump and next to where it joins the gearbox. There is a smooth section where it will be stamped on. Mine was hard to read.

+1..all stamped right on the bell housing, down low, behind the turbo.

To read mine, I had to remove the heatshield...and because it was hard to read...I had to setup a worklight under the passenger side wheel, shining pretty much side on to that flat section with the number...only just barely readable then...I've gotta get around to engraving the numbers deeper.

The "24U" engine code is not actually stamped on. It's part of the casting of the N1 block. If you want to find the engine number, it's on the driver side near the front on the block. Just checkout the pic. The numbering will go like this:

RB26xxxxxxX

"x" denotes the engine number sequence. "X" means it's an N1 or Nismo block. A standard 05U block with have "A" instead of "X".

Awesome cheers for the help guys. Any other easy way (I know the turbos are different?) besides the no rear windscreen wiper & no stereo? I'm just wanting to make sure as the one I'm looking at has got a rear windscreen wiper but the owner is totally sure its a N1. I can only ssume the possibility of the rear windscree nwiper being installed for compliance. Even if its just a clean GTR with a N1 engine (the whole thing...Cams, Block, Turbos etc etc) I'll be happy. If its just the block and the rest is standard GTR I'm not too sure.
