Guys, it was great to take the R35 to an event like this. Thanks for the vids and photos. Personally I thought the day was perfectly organised, and it was great to be able to take passengers. The rain was a blessing for me. Drag racing and track days are easy compared to this sort of thing. It was the first time driving the car on a skid pan and I have a lot to learn! I look forward to the next one. Once I work out how to get my videos from the gopro to youtube I'll share them around.

nice vids, love the 35 gtr one.

so who was quickest overall for the day? :P

I think N1GTR and Doof will agree, but it was just to hard to add up the times as half the people did 2 courses that the other half didn't and vica versa, also when the rain came down alot of cars lost their numbers. I only got 1 timed run out of 6 courses in my 32, and no timed runs in the Clio. I actually got 3 timed runs when I borrowed Joel's Clubman (All fastest times, but would have to put this down to the car.....WWHHHEAPON)

But I reckon, Gerard Sasso was REALLY quick in his MX-5, Liz in her 180 was quick when she kept it on the tarmac :D , Both of the Silver 32 GT-R's where using 4wd to there advantage along with silver 33 GTR, and of course My canberran team mate ZCR, Zane robertson got a 2 fastest times in his 32 Gtst. Also sorry to all of the 33 GTS-T owners that drove well, as all you 33's look the same to me....... :)

Thankyou very much for driving the new GTR like it should of been, great to see it out there with all 4 wheels spinning, and like I said if you ever forget how much fun RWD is, we could always swap for a run next time.............. :P

In the future, if a car is going to be there with biig fark awf stickers saying number 262, make sure to tell the exec team so we can accomodate the timing sheets for you :)

I think we're done with the shoe polish numbers too, we're going to be testing out some affordable stickers to see if they come off the cars easily enough.

No worries.

Would be great to have you and your brothers mates back again!

I'm going to get a race number made for my car now... :)

I wasn't having a dig, I was just saying alot of drivers missed timed runs due to unforseen circumstances :P

I had the big Numbers 32 and 197, and I thought that were going to be my numbers, and I'm guessing from the overbooking problem I got forgotten about (so did my second entry)and 32 was allocated to some bloody (awesome) camaro (yank tank with the race numbers 32 is so wrong)

Heads up for next time, skyline is 32 and Renault clio is 197, prob only do demo/Joke runs in the clio next time as the 32 is just to much fun to slide :)

I know a few people with the race number 32, so you're lucky they don't come along :P

Just remind us when you sign up for the next one... I still haven't seen a form from you!

And yeah, I didn't think you were having a dig, the plan was to have everyone do every course and get the times, but we braved the rain for as long as we could... It would have all been hunky dory if it didn't piss down sideways for an hour, but there's not much we could have done about that...

What about magnetic signs? Might cost more upfront, but would be reusable at any event... buy blank ones and just write the number on it in big black texta...?

Magnetic signs are also on the whiteboard of brilliant ideas... we are going to price them up, but if they end up costing too much, we're just going to have to say no.

Unfortunately, trusting everyone return it at the end of the day is just too big of an ask. I somehow manage to take something home from every SAU event  I always return it later, but others might not be at as many events to return SAU property as me...

Yes yes... I read the exec section each time before posting here...

There are still a few problems with that though, it's a whole bunch of admin someone is going to have to do in the arvo!

I'm not bothering to speak til I see what the prices are. Theoritaclly, it's probably the best answer to our problem, but it depends on cost, quality and how many we get back.

Fixed :D

    • I'm hoping I just don't have to do an engine rebuild NOW. Doesn't mean I won't do it at some point. I think a plus point is that the car presumably ran on or close to stock power nearly all it's life so far. Only the Owner I bought it from actually increased power with a standalone ECU and blew the OEM turbos. And after it got thee 2860s it wasn't driven an awful lot either.   That is what I meant. With the twins coming on so late (4500-5000rpm) I hope the rods won't want to exit the block prematurely. And it still being a 26 means the torque curve isn't gonna hike up all that much.   It didn't blow up on the dyno when they tuned it to 500ish crank. So I suppose it'll be okay for now. They did put a Tomei head gasket on first though which did not seal at all, and they redid it with a Cometic one. Which I hope won't be my water leak.   Mainly anything oil. So far all it has is the N1 pump, oil restrictor and a filter relocation kit with a cooler.
    • 15000? ish? Something like that anyway. It wasn;t so much a wear as a tear that then spread. Might have lasted a lot longer if not bothered by just one incident, whatever it was. I took a punt. They are really comfortable and do a good job of holding. My daughter HATED it when I first put them in, and probably still does now. She has sensory issues and hates the way they are all up your business. I'm 197cm and 95kg. Not fat or particularly wide, and the XL size seat is the rigth fit. If I was any fatter it would start to get too snug. Any skinnier and you'd possibly want the smaller width.
    • Mrs rs focus came factory with recaro cs  sportsters in it and they a pain in the ass to get in and out of with the really high bolsters, once you were in them they were one of the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in
    • The NA 2.5 has very little torque. You won't feel much. Those trannies are also a million years old now and it could well be f**ked. First generation electronically controlled autos will often refuse to kick down, ete, etc, depending on what's wrong with them.
    • Yes, but no but yes but no. Those "it's fine up to 500HP" rules and everything else like it were all determined back when the cars were 10 years old. As they are now 30 years old.....what do you reckon the chances of something shitting the bed are? I'd say they are much higher now than they used to be. You might be lucky. You might be unlucky. Spin the wheel and find out. Yeah, nah. It's actually exactly the opposite. Making boost early and having heaps of torque able to be generated right in the middle of the rev range will do more to damage an engine than having to rev it high to make the power. Think about the load on the conrods, bearings, etc, to make 400HP at 4000 rpm, vs 400 HP at 6500 rpm. So someone has already "let the Nissan out" which is how we describe the increased chance of a fiddled with engine to have had something done wrongly. Many more engines that have been opened die than stock ones do - even if you into consideration how they are treated wrt power levels and the like. Again, not saying that yours will definitely have been put back together by a moron. But the possibility does exist. It's still a lottery. Spin the wheel. What weakspots?
