Gday all,

On friday, my car decided to put itself into fail-safe mode, commonly known as "limp mode", (stuck in 3rd 24/7)

Strangest thing is how it happened. It was driving normally, drove to girlfriends place, parked for ~30 mins, came back and, poof, something in the transmission had died.

So whatever happened, took place when the car was parked and turned off.

I personally beleive its one or more solonoids that have gone, resulting in limp mode, i did a search to backup my thoughts and it seems i'm right, however, not certain.

The biggest problem i face is getting hold of new solonoids, i figure any good mechanic can do the repairs, i just dont know where to look to get new ones?

Anyone know where i can source these from and know the cost?

If anyone has any other ideas on what may of happened or what is the best way to go about this, that would be great!

Cheers!

car is booked in for thursday at Knox automatics. (confirmed that shift solenoid B had gone)

solenoid kit + transmission service(oil + filter etc) + labour = $600

A lot less than what i was expecting. :D

car is all fixed up!

probally just me, but car does seem to shift a tiny bit faster than before, feels smoother too, but thats probally due to the fact that the transmission was serviced.
