Hi All,

I have a 1993 R32 GTR and have just had 4 new bilstein shocks (B46) fitted. The issue I have is that the existing springs have been retained but are in poor condition. The car is a daily driver and I the suspension needs to be fairly complaint on Sydney's F%$#@# roads.

I see the error in not replacing the springs with the shocks together. :D .. I will be replacing the stuffed stock springs - just want to know what some of you think is the best option;

- new/secondhand stock springs? (about $200 per spring - NEW from Nissan Aust.)

- have K-Mac make up some progressive springs (approx. $200 / pair)

- get Sydney Kid to re-valve the Bilsteins and use with his springs?

- sell Bilsteins and go coilovers.

The springs you have now are the softest you are going to see. Any upgrade will be with "heavier" springs, and will only exacerbate the ride quality that you seem to dislike.

It's a sports car - it should have firm suspension. But if you must have limousine ride quality, get the Bilsteins re-valved to soften their response.

I think the best solution for what you are after was if you get some progressive springs made up (if your worried about the stiffness you can still get aftermarket ones that don't increase the ride stiffness that much) and get the Bilsteins re-valved to suit. I bought some TEIN springs and I think they are progressive and they are only slightly stiffer than standard and give a good ride comfort.

Went for a decent drive last night (not the usual suburban / work commute) and am much more satisfied. :P I now appreciate the sharper response and better body control provided by the Bilsteins over previous stock set-up. I will now source a set of progressive springs to compliment the new shocks.
