hey guys thought I'd see who uses steam on here in case a few of you might like a bash at CS:S, TF2 L4D or anything else I have (if only to call SAU ppl faggots on mic looolz), given that the gaming nights were a bit of a letdown.

I already have Ash on there, my username funnily enough is bozodos.

or if you CBF come looking for me on the Surf Infamous CS:S Gungame server, I usually play on there :P

I use Steam. I'm actually a fan of it! It appeals to my laziness with buying games, and the prices are actually less then in-store!

I just downloaded Mass Effect 2 last night, haven't played it yet, didn't even play the first one but figured I would give this a go.

woot

I used to play TF2 but it got repetative and stale... and all those upgraded weapons that I didn't know f**ked me over... I bought Dragon Age:Origins but that got pretty boring pretty quickly.

I played Borderlands pretty thoroughly, never got into the multiplayer though...

I have been thinking about getting L4D2 for some time now, I miss multiplayer games, but I just don't really have the time.

I used to call it steaming pile of shit. Because for those who don't remember, back when Half Life 1 and Counter-Strike 1.X was all the rage we had a simple existing process for installing and playing games. You just installed Half Life 1 with a CD and downloaded/installed CS on top of that. Then you downloaded whatever updates were available. You could activate any mod easily through the Half Life menu. But then the Steam dependant CS:Source came along, forcing you to download Steam (combination of good and bad marketing IMO...it forced people to try out Steam but also made many reluctant to take on CS:S for this reason - we hate third party / unnecessary software!).

Trying it out after converting to CS:S changed my opinion of it though...now that it's been refined into a user friendly package it's a great tool. Buying games online...and being able to play them on any PC just by logging into your account and downloading the game is a big advantage. At the same time you don't own the physical product which sucks, and if your account gets hacked/banned then you're in a good mess. Automatic game updates are handy. Searching for half-life based game servers too. It simplifies the hell out of things if you have alot of different computer games. And games like Left 4 Dead, which have very poor in game user interfaces/menus pretty much depend on it for player/clan interaction.

You can actually back your shit up Birds. When I built my computer, I was moving those files every which way, and the games still worked.

I had to re-download borderlands, at least, Steam thought I did... I had all the files necessary, started the download, paused it, moved all the files into the Borderlands directory, resumed the download and it went from 1% to 99%... Pretty sure it was just verifying files.

So you can just backup the game directories if you want. I've been thinking about it, cause my steam folder is something like 60gbs...

I didn't like it at first either cause it felt like some crap software was being forced on me, but it's definately a bonus now. Kinda like if iTunes worked with MP3s and didn't sync and delete shit when it felt like it...

Oh yeah everyone hated Steam back in the days when a lot of people had dialup still, TF2 is only really annoying when they bring out new weapons which everyone who plays 24/7 gets straight away due to achievement farming or sheer time spent in game, then having to spend another 2 - 3 weeks getting pwnd until you get them at random.

There is an SAU group on steam btw

i got steam, play plenty of gungame on cs:s and every now and then a fiew normal servers (Cant surf for shit) but that wont stop me from winning every round lol :)

add my account duno if it will work but try Kinetic^ someshit like that :D

yeah i hated it originally.. one of the main reasons was updating all the fooking time.. and 12-20mb updates.. and would update during the game.. don't mind it now.. just play CSS though.. cbf really playing games on pc much anymore..

play breakfloor [iC] Server as its a fast map and your not watching others play for ages when you die lol.. don't really add steam friends as i don't go on to socialise..

i just bought all the XCom games on steam on the weekend for 5 bucks... awwww yeah. reliving my childhood with pixellated turn based games now.

ahaha, i loved UFO. i think i still have it somewhere. pretty sure i still have the base and soldier patches for it too where you can alter the inventory of the base and upgrade your soldiers equipment

lol I had someone in CS ask me the other day if i was the same person as here

you should Ash, then if a few people wanna have a game they can just use public servers and do it informally

I was going to get L4D2 but is it really worth 50 bucks over L4D?

I don't have L4D so I'll probably buy L4D2 when my frickin audio starts working again!

I was playing Mass Effect 2 last night, I'm not an instant fan. I think the game pretty heavily assumes you played the first one and know wtf you're doing... I was racking up points for all this shit and had no idea wtf to do with them... I think I have like $50000 and have nfi what they do...

Can you jump in this game?

    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
    • Brand was ard.   I also threw a brand new battery at it and beefed up the wire from the alternator to battery and added an extra earthing point from the battery
