i thought they were selling the CSR E85, the drum i have seen were red and had CRS sticker on the side.

ok maybe they switched, the one's i've got are white with racefuels own labels and the std danger sticker, when i spoke to them few months back they were buying 100 ethanol from the the open market then getting it mixed with ultimate.

This makes me want to install my 1000cc injectors and run E85. Stop putting these ideas in my head people!!!!

hahahah go for it dude u dont have to run full e85 u can mix it down if u feel ur fuel system is at its end ie 20ltrs to rest 98oct works great to. now i dunno what u blokes pay for cuatom tunes but at $400 for me its a great way to mess around and just store it in my flash box

yes our tuner was buying e85 in the 44 galon drums red in colour aswell and as for the united e85 its bloody spot on all the time it gets used nearly on a daily basis now through our tuner and he tests the batch all the time for consistancy when tuning so thats a bit of confidance for me.

now one thing with e85 blokes its an awsome fuel system cleaner and will glog up thoses filters quickley so the need for new fuel filters is very regular i change mine every 10,000kms min and as said any old pvc hoses will turn brittle fast and possiably crack so keep an eye on this but once changed the new pvc stuff is peachy.

i personally love the power from this fuel and many of our members have pushed over 420rwkw on 100% UNOPENED MOTORS an std turbo. just as a rough guide most make aprox 380rwkw on 98 with basic mods then with just the change of fuel will go 420+ rwkw/800nm+ on e85 it just has such a better tuning ability for our donks anyway but e85 is really starting to get the run around with many in the modded car scene now (even the blokes on ls1.com rate it )

the main problem you'll find with skyline drivers, is the need versus the convenience.

Theres nowhere near enough e85 stations to make daily and long distance drives practical, the distance between stations is often not feasible for those who drive around the state a lot... at least with 98 you can find it in most stations...and then there is the reduction in efficiency, which means those on e85 have to fill up 20% more often than those with a tank of petrol (ala lpg, a low density gas)...I'm all for alternative fuels, esp if theyre environmentally friendly (which e85 is) and cheap per vol (whcih e85 is) but we cant really tune our dailies for it until stations start offering it. Even with nisstune, it'd take a laptop to program an alternate fuel map - who wants to do that? Its just not practical.

I can say confidently, that when our oil reserves run out and we get forced to use e85, there wont be a proble, but till then, keep tuning for 98 ron- unless you're a trackhound and can get tankers delivering the good stuff....

yeh this is a bit of a bugger right on

so what do u blokes think of p100? its getting more avaliable north south and central-ish hahahah

i think its great for those hard pushed 98 tunes bit of lea way for the old captin ping to rear its head

any of u blokes rate it aswell?

I did some tuning on the United E85 last week, here is the story from my own car :)

With a local E85 pump coming online (again) it was only natural that the chase for some extra EVO X kilowatts would lead us to an aptly named 'Corn Gas' conversion. Taking advantage of the high oxygen content and 110+ octane of this fuel for 99c a litre is too good to resist.

corn1.jpg

Upgrading the fuel system with E85 is mandatory, and we developed a little kit to do this. We used our WR35STX surge tank assembly with a Walbro 255l/hour pump feeding the factory rail. Fuel injectors were increased from the stock 550cc to a set of straight fit DW800cc units. It fired up and ran with only some small map changes...

corn2.jpg

A few hours were spent dialling in the fuel and timing curves to suit the new fuel. Its characteristics from a tuners viewpoint are different to conventional gasoline. The power and torque gains though are phenomenal. The amazing part is that there is no difference in boost between the top two tuned and E85 curves. The power is coming straight from fuel, timing, and MIVEC changes (E85 has a much different burn rate hence different valve event requirements). Its a great gain, and feels sensational with plenty of midrange urge

Later this week the R35 GTR will be moving over to E85 as well :)

Martin, can you tune an Emanage there at Willall? I'm thinking of going down the e85 road on my stagea. I've only got the blue one, not the Ultimate. So I'll need to keep a 98 tune on my laptop unless I upgrade.

I might pop in to talk about it sometime this week. I've also got to check if my fuel lines etc are up to it

Cheers

Aaron

Martin, are you using similar target AFR's with E85 ? and do you suggest different cam dialing in for optimum results with E85 from what we have now on our petrol based set-up (Roo16).

cheers and awaiting results with the R35 GTR.

I do rate it! i chucked $20 of it in an empty tank on Monday night, and cant fault it so far. I have a power fc, so have the ability to monitor knock in cabin, and haven't seen any knock over 20 so far.

However, like most, i am considering the benefits of E85 at the moment. Seems the way of the future, so why not get on board at the ground floor!

yep same here i really like the p100 fuel chews it a bit faster but its smoother idle smoother rev and added untuned kick on my 98oct tune :D

yeh looks like e85 is becomming a choice at least in the pump fuel list just need to make it more avaliable

martin nice work on the evo u did the original tune on darryls octaine (phoon) never looked back as far as power/performance

now to throw a spanner in the worx any of u blokes use race fuel?

elf,tolly,martini,c16.........................and any of u blokes had any bad experiances with this?

ive been looking at c16 fastest xr6t in the country is tuned on it sub 9sec full trim and looks to be an avenue for gains but still the hole prob of mass quanties and dollars/ltr :P

In my gts-t a while ago I tried caltex fuel a couple times and it used to knock at 90 (power FC) at only 4000rpm.....the same car with BP fuel knocked at around 18 at 7000rpm.

Needless to say I havn't been back to Caltex

Was that Caltex 98RON? they have only been selling that for a short while
