I found this on ebay

It kinda looks like just what i want, just want to get some advice about getting something like this?

Cheers Pat

Ebay may be a great website for buying cheap DVD's, furniture or other random items but I would be very careful when buying items like ECU's - there is no way you can tell if you are actually getting what youre paying for... Its a big risk when you consider that if it isnt what you paid for and you plug it into your engine it could cause catastrophic damage. :D

I would suggest buying a brand new plug and play ECU like a Power FC (if you can find one) if you want a new computer...

Just my two cents.

oh for f**ks sake . there is a reason why mines put an engraved plaque and mines stickers over the edges of it . they opened it so its worthless now .

people rag on about these ecus but i see nothing wrong with them . if you only have mild mods then a couple of hundred for one of these looks way better than 1800 for ecu and 800 for tuning (link g4 in NZ)

they are not worth much . my sisters bf bought one for his h22a prelude for 200NZ and it made it a whole lot better

that one is 4 times the price its worth and there no gaurantee it hasnt been tamered with

PM a guy on here called Toshi, he will tune your std ecu and make it suit your car he sends interstate if needed as he is located in sydney. He has done mine and plenty of others on this site and it was def worth it. PM me if you have any queries about it

cheers guys, i was very reluctant to start with. I want to go vipec or haltech, angelo (trojan) didn't think haltech did a r34 plug in tho. I'll just have to wait for many more funds to get one of these

I think I'd rather get a new tunable ECU for a bit extra, than to send the car away and have it tuned in concrete (like the MINES one)

I think I was looking at that one earlier and thought to myself it looked dodgy.

I'm with you Pat, I think it's better to get something aftermarket that you can easily get retuned later by any of the local workshops.

If you're only doing mild modifications, you'd be mad to go past nistune. Basically unlocks the ability to tune your factory ECU. It's also a lot more police/defect-friendly because they can't really detect you're running a tunable ECU.

R34power :

I saw your post in the spotted thread  I'm not even looking at getting to half the power your getting to lol

Does anyone in canberra have any experience with a NIStune?

It sounds perfect for the level of mods that i want to do to my car, not going to go too crazy with it...
