I have searched and read thru the DIY guide for R33's, but there is not enough info on RB25 Neo's with problems encounted and solutions

So hopefully this thread will solve these issue's as it has been done before by others

First I have a series 2 Stagea AWD, so I do not have traction control on the throttle body to worry about, but R34 owners will

1. Need to change the R34 throtle body to a R33 item. Swap over the R34 throtle position sensor as it is wired up different to the R33 item.

Bolts straight on.

2. Neo's have top feed injectors and the r33 manifold is designed for side feed. Can you fit/buy or make inserts to suit the smaller top feed injectors?

I have 480cc Nismo items to use.

Have seen the ebay seimen injector kits for neo's and they look like they come with inserts for the greddy plenum.

3. Fuel rail will need spacers to suit the height of the top feed injectors

4. Need to use R33 ACC valve. These are wired up different to the R34 Neo item. How is this done?

5. Have trailed fitted the new inlet plenum to the head and it fouls the small steel vacumm line that runs behind the cam gear backing plate to the power steer plate. This will need to cut/bent out the way or a new line run form the plenum to the p/s pump.

6. For the R34 owners, what needs to be done about the traction control?

7. Any other issues I have missed?

Hi, I recently did this with my r34 gtt, never found actual information on here either how ppl resolved problems, but i did see pictures of things done, so knew there must have been a way.

Biggest issue I had was fitting 34 factory injectors. Which in the end turned out to be simply getting resized orings put on them to seal properly into the manifold. I went to a bearing and o-ring specialist. (The manifold hole is approx 1mm bigger) I used factory 34 fuel rail, slotted one the hole, and drilled a new hole on the other side to suit the manifold. Also needed a spacer aswell, can't remember how tall off the top my head.

Seing as I was (don't flame me) still running factory ecu, I wanted to use factory aac valve. So made a plate , with countersunk bolts to fit the manifold, then the factory aac valve bolted on there.

I was using a radiator header tank, so plumbing up all the water lines was a bit of a puzzel, but not too difficult.

You'll likely need an adaptor to fit your throttlebody, but your stagea 1 should be the same as a 33 bolt pattern, again for ease of wiring, I'd try use your stagea one.

Drill out the spot weld on the brather pipe on back of cam cover, and bend to suit, or cut off and run a silicon hose rite through.

And in my case I was using an aftermarket throttlebody, so deleted the TCS, ( hadn't come up with a solution to get rid of fault codes and check light. What did people do for this problem? I was going to make a resistor setup to plug into the loom plug to simulate the TCS sensor still there, but would have run into the issue again when the car broke traction, and didn't respond. Any better solutions?) but retained the factory TPS sensor. Then obviously your new intercooler pipework to suit.

Hope this helps can maybe post you some pics if you want. Good luck.

Darrin, about the AAC-V. You may already know, but the NEO AAC-V is also the cold start valve, thats what the coolant lines are that run into it. so when you swap to the R33 AAC-V you may also need to get you hands on a R33 cold start valve, they are separate on the older RB25's.

At the moment the cold start part of my valve has shit itself and i've had to block it off. so far i have no issue with idle, even when cold, but its not winter. If you still have your old one and want to get rid of it let me know.

i would like to know if anyone has the pinouts for both neo and R33 tps units.. i need to wire in a R33 one to a neo loom. my front facing plenum is alittle different as i am using a r33 bottom runners that have been cut with the gtr throttle bodies welded to with the plenum on aswell.. just need to work out afew little things to do with injectors and aac valve

here are a couple of diagrams for the TPS's, there are little images of the plugs to tell you where the pins are. just to double check you can easily put a multimeter on the wires and test for the +ve and GND.

1: TPS +ve from ecu

2: TPS Signal to ecu

3: TPS GND from ecu

the other one you can see from pins 25/32 is just signal shielding

3: TPS GND from ecu

again the other looped bit you can see is shielding.

Just done one like that.

1 - Use R33 S2 throttle body with your internals.

2 - Easier is just to get a r33 fuel rail and side feed injectors. Bolts in.

4 - Check R33 and R34 manuals for wiring.

6 - remove traction control. What good does it do ? Dash lamp will flash though.

can't understand any of that... lol . i need colours and stuff

well i got my head around the diagrams.. one question - the neo tps has 6 wires coming out of it into two plugs. the R33 one has two seperate plugs with 3 wires each. do you know which ones are which?

Thanks

Curt

I recently did this using Q45 throttle body and Q45 TPS, HKS RB26 fuel rail with machnied up spacers and sard 800cc injectors and r33 idle control valve

Black red and white are the three that you need for TPS

the green, yellow and something else i binned....

I am yet to get the idle control valve working......

I am using the R33 throtle boday and just swapping over the R34 TPS.

Mounting is exactly the same. No need to sort wiring and find matching 2 plugs for the R333 TPS

Same for the ACC valave. I have made up a 1/2 inch thich alloy spacer plate to fit the R34 AAC vale to the R33 mounting point

No need to sort out the wiring and no need to buy the R33 ACC and IAC valve.

Just need now to sort out the bigger injector o rings.

I am also thinking of not using the 480cc nismo injectors as they will be close if not maxed out with the gt3076r

Thinking about the ebay siemen 650cc kits that come with a new fuel rail and the insert adaptors to fit into the greddy inlet. win win

hay from what i looked at the r34 tps has a bar with a pin through where as the r33 one i have ( could be s1 or s2 don't know ) the shaft goes into it.

Darrenspencer - do you have a pic of the inside of the tps and plugs you are using?

thanks

Curt

Attached is pic of the r33 and r34 throtle bodays an their matching TPS

Also a pic of the doggy spacer plate I made for the ACC valve

thanks for those pics there great.. so the s2 r33 uses the same tps setup as the neo. the one i have must be a s1 r33 one as it differs.

what i need is different to what you guys are doing, i need one that connects to a gtr setup ( which is the same as the s1 ) then need to wire it too the neo plugs.

thanks again for that

curt

Did a trail fit of the plenum last night again and ran into a few problems.

I can not fit the R34 AAC valve on as it hits the factory oil cooler on the filter.

So I might have to go back to the R33 ACC and IAC.

Anyone now where I can get the matching plugs for these?

Thats odd, as i made my adaptor plate basically the same as yours, and did not foul on the factory oil cooler. was it just the metal water lines going into it? I did bend mine to diffrent angles to make them easier to get too. If its the actual aac valve hitting, maybe remake your adaptor, but have it sitting slightly higher, in relation to the manifold? Hope this helps you.
