Heya, I have recently been raped with the idea of buying a second car, and have found quite possibly the easiest solution for it, however, I know shit all about cedrics, and less about a Y30

Could someone tell me some shit about them? Why I should/shouldn't buy one?

This thing is like $300 with no rust ANYWHERE, perfect interior if a bit faded, only requiring rego, service and a fuel pump.

It's auto and a VG30. Engine doesn't concern me but the auto box might... Are they any sort of decent? I know it'll need a filter service kit put through it, but that's normal.

What else should i consider in regards to this car?

its been sitting for a while. and its a nissan. I'm yet to experience nissan autos.

if i do it, it will be zoku'd the f**k out of. as legal as i can go, of course. 15x10" banded wheels, prob stretched 205s, flared guards. dumped. fake oil cooler. crazy little metre-long exhaust zig-zag. then respray. and then interior to a VIP style :P maybe.

will drive it normal for a while, but yeah.

so you don't think it'll have any problems ay?

OoOoOo ultimate sleeper!!

Maybe, maybe. Would be easier to fit all z32t running gear i think though. how sick would that be... zoku'd cedric capable of epic skids.

are there any similarities in other platforms that might be able to run coilovers?

Hey, if you dont want it I will take it.

The Y30 looks oldschool. Would look phat with my nice dishy 15's on it

I have a Y31 Cima, and Love it.

Got some nice JIC coilovers aswell, but havent tested the car out with them in as yet.

If it has a VG30, it should have the same gearbox as a 300zx, I think it is a RE40..... or something a rather.

Gearbox definately has potential for drag use that is for sure.

Hi Jason, the Y30 is a great car. I had one with a late model VG30E twin throttle body. The Autos are a tough box, never had any problems with it, even when I smashed the diff.

They are very truck like in their build. Big solid rear axle, big trailing links, big rails, steering box, none of this rack business!

This means that majority of parts from other models such as the R31, S13, etc don't bolt up. The diff is shared with the 720 ute as is the steering box and knuckles. The Front struts can be used from a Z31 'Californian' with 5 stud hubs.

Any VG or RB will bolt in.

Here is my old car. Crossmember was 35mm off the ground :). 18' Lensos and a trimmed Volvo 244 GT front lip.

^^ TOUGH!!

Okay so I had a look today. She's rough but there's no rust, the panels are 95% straight, and basically all body damage is easily fixable. BUT, haven't heard it run, don't know if electrics work or not, and it's missing a passenger side window and front windscreen. apart from that, if i get it it's gonna look bombed.

Big question here:

How hard is it to find parts for these vehicles?

I know in Melbourne a self serve wrecker has 3 of them in various states. I imported bits from japan from www.importmonster.com.au.

There aren't many around to be honnest and when I had it I got most of the good bits from the local wreckers. You'll find that the factory paint comes up brilliantly with a detail. 2pac from factory in 83.......... Aw Yeah!!!

    • Hello, I'm trying to make this thread basically the thread with all the answers to common questions regarding specifically the RB20 DE NEO + T engine, that comes in the R34. Answers will and only should be provided by those who have done this conversion or actually have some relevant real life experience please. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments if you have any so other members can answer. I feel like this thread is really needed, especially with more Americans buying (unknowingly going to regret it too) rb20 neo r34s. My first question being - What do you guys use for tuning? I have purchased a haltech elite 2500 Plug and play kit for the rb25det NEO because the ecu plug is the same, but I am unsure if any of the pins would need to be repined to match. Second question that I see asked very often - After this conversion, did you install the boost solenoid/ actuator? I see many people doing a + T setup on their rb20 NEOs while running stock RB25DET NEO ECUs with no tune. I am wondering how they are going about doing that and consistently abusing the car because many of these people have had these untuned setups running for a very long time. That was my original plan, but my engine cuts out at 5 psi of boost using the stock ecu with no tune and no boost solenoid/actuator.
    • interesting. ive read and heard otherwise over the past year. ive been doing this +t conversion on a rb20 neo using all oem rb25det neo parts including the ECU, and im having engine cut out issues when I hit around 5 psi of boost. Everywhere/everyone ive asked has told me its because I never wired in a boost solenoid/actuator to the ecu, so the ecu isn't getting the right signal once it hits 5 psi of boost, causing the engine to get shut off.
    • Mate, I take this thread in random directions on occasion myself, so no foul I'm a old fan of MCM anyway, I like their banter, and enjoy most of the stuff they do
    • Something strange is happening. I didn't touch the car since we last spoke on the forums. Yesterday was the first day of good weather, so i took it out for about 2 hours. It started up on first crank every time about 5 times total. I literally didn't do anything to do the car.
    • I purchased this one. Very well priced and works great. I was rough with it to see if it will last and had no issues.  Teslong Two-Way Articulating Borescope with Light, Industrial Endoscope Inspection Camera with Articulated Probe, Flexible Mechanic Fiber Optic Snake Scope Cam for Wall Automotive Engine Inspect-5FT : Amazon.ca: Industrial & Scientific
