Dorigecko
Heya, I have recently been raped with the idea of buying a second car, and have found quite possibly the easiest solution for it, however, I know shit all about cedrics, and less about a Y30 Could someone tell me some shit about them? Why I should/shouldn't buy one? This thing is like $300 with no rust ANYWHERE, perfect interior if a bit faded, only requiring rego, service and a fuel pump. It's auto and a VG30. Engine doesn't concern me but the auto box might... Are they any sort of decent? I know it'll need a filter service kit put through it, but that's normal. What else should i consider in regards to this car? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306533-py30-goodness/ Share on other sites
Sarumatix
300 bucks? Very cheap. many possibilities to build it up, or alternatively just leave it stock and enjoy . Why are you worried about the gearbox? It is dieing or you just don't like autos? Dorigecko
its been sitting for a while. and its a nissan. I'm yet to experience nissan autos. if i do it, it will be zoku'd the f**k out of. as legal as i can go, of course. 15x10" banded wheels, prob stretched 205s, flared guards. dumped. fake oil cooler. crazy little metre-long exhaust zig-zag. then respray. and then interior to a VIP style maybe. will drive it normal for a while, but yeah. so you don't think it'll have any problems ay? Dorigecko
OoOoOo ultimate sleeper!! Maybe, maybe. Would be easier to fit all z32t running gear i think though. how sick would that be... zoku'd cedric capable of epic skids. are there any similarities in other platforms that might be able to run coilovers? Nic_A31
Suspension between Credic, Gloria, Cima and Leopard is all pretty similar...and alot had air bag suspension...not alot of coilovers out there for them....worth a search though. SideWaysChef
Hey, if you dont want it I will take it. The Y30 looks oldschool. Would look phat with my nice dishy 15's on it I have a Y31 Cima, and Love it. Got some nice JIC coilovers aswell, but havent tested the car out with them in as yet. If it has a VG30, it should have the same gearbox as a 300zx, I think it is a RE40..... or something a rather. Gearbox definately has potential for drag use that is for sure. SABBAi
Hi Jason, the Y30 is a great car. I had one with a late model VG30E twin throttle body. The Autos are a tough box, never had any problems with it, even when I smashed the diff. They are very truck like in their build. Big solid rear axle, big trailing links, big rails, steering box, none of this rack business! This means that majority of parts from other models such as the R31, S13, etc don't bolt up. The diff is shared with the 720 ute as is the steering box and knuckles. The Front struts can be used from a Z31 'Californian' with 5 stud hubs. Any VG or RB will bolt in. Here is my old car. Crossmember was 35mm off the ground . 18' Lensos and a trimmed Volvo 244 GT front lip. Dorigecko
^^ TOUGH!! Okay so I had a look today. She's rough but there's no rust, the panels are 95% straight, and basically all body damage is easily fixable. BUT, haven't heard it run, don't know if electrics work or not, and it's missing a passenger side window and front windscreen. apart from that, if i get it it's gonna look bombed. Big question here: How hard is it to find parts for these vehicles? SABBAi
I know in Melbourne a self serve wrecker has 3 of them in various states. I imported bits from japan from www.importmonster.com.au. There aren't many around to be honnest and when I had it I got most of the good bits from the local wreckers. You'll find that the factory paint comes up brilliantly with a detail. 2pac from factory in 83.......... Aw Yeah!!!
