I have a rb26, running stock turbo but plan on upgrading to newer twin turbo.

I was wondering if anyone dynoed their dump pipe to see if all those 700$ nismo, tomei, mine's dump pipe are worth the expensive price or better put the money elsewhere..

Any dyno chart to back it up!?

Thanks a lot guys!

Yeah if you can get R34 GTR dump pipes grab them and save your money, but everyone has cottoned on to this and R34 GTR owners seem to be keeping their dump pipes. How selfish!

How much should I expect for the r34 ? Because I can get mine's for approx. 200$ ( I think the guy don't know how much it's worth hahah!)

By the way, I have a R32 GTR.

i got Mines dump pipes when i had my R32 turbos changed for 2860-5's.

i dont think that the dump pipes really make much of a difference, the sound was a little different thats all really.

i paid 350 second hand to have them installed along with my turbos.

not too bad, but still not cheap.

but at least it wasnt what they're asking for them brand new.

that it.

Even if it's 200$. I don't want to pay for something that wont do anything to my car lol!

I think they do a bit more than just change the sound.

sorry, it was on an sr20

but you'd think it says a fair bit about dump pipe design across all engines/turbos

unfortunatly the thread got deleted as one of the companies who's got tested complained or something.. sigh

you own a GTR, what costs as little as $200 that will make any REAL power difference.

it made a difference to how it sounded when on full boost, and it probably made some small difference in power.

who really cares, it got done when i had the turbo's changed as most GTR owners do unless they got R34 dumps already.

there are probably other things that it helps like flowing more gas and heat from the turbo's.

i dont have dyno sheets to back my power up, just giving my honest opinion.

if you wanna change your dump pipes you can, if you dont its not going to make a real difference. its just whether you want to spend the money or not.

Unfortunately - that is a big fat no!

R33 dumps i've also been told by a little biride have done 380rwkw as well, 20psi.

Identical result to cars with Tomei dumps, R34 dumps etc. So there is certainly no issue neccesarily.

I have factory R33 or R32 dumps on mine - 280rwkw @ just over 1bar.

identical result as before when i had much larger trust split dumps on there. I had to sell them due to ride height problems, otehrwise i guess i'd never have seen it.

I'll make around 330rwkw @ 20psi, which is the norm for GT-SS's, plenty of setups with stock dumps have done that with ease.

The car in question that makes a claimed 380RWKW would be mine and, yes it uses factory R33 dump pipes. But for that price l would give them a go. If you see no gain you can always sell them and get your money back. Although my car makes the above mentioned power, l am thinking of buying a set of trust extention pipes as l have been offered a set at a good price. looking at after market dump pipes compared to the standard ones, the after market dumps you would think would make some type of power gain.

hmm, they may be able to handle 380kw but what about the dyno sheets comparing the different dumps? i think the advantage of well designed dumps was faster spool and more torque,, not really raw power

my mate who is pretty "in the know" sent his aftermarket dumps to CES to get honed out a bit more too

but yeah im not the expert just going of what ive read

^ well when this "birdie" is one of the most experienced RB tuners in the country, if he tells me it's as good as a aftermarket dump - fitted car...

I'm highly inclined to believe such a statement. If i remember to get some dyno sheets @ some point (details removed), then ill get a hold of them.

I'm not for a second saying a R33 GTS-t (or SR20's) for example, see's no benefit. Just the example we are talking about at hand doesn't

I went with R34 because they were 2x cheaper the price of the mine's ( 2 peoples were selling an used set).

Thanks for the head up. I'm sure it will be better than my stock one!

Also, Tomei diameter is 60mm just like the r34. So, beside the material, I can't see a difference.

By the way, just to make sure, are the r34 dump bolt-on on the bnr32 ?

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
