hey guys i know carlo from today tonight and he has been drifting that road for years long before top gear was even thought of i even used to go out with them some times they dont just go drifting round not knowing wats coming towards them they have people at the top bottom and more people in the middle of the hills so if any cars do come they communicate and let the each other know wats happening and i also know that carlos s14 is set up for drifting, and that road he is drifting on no one ever uses apart from the odd car from time to time.

No one ever uses it? It's a HUGELY used road!

Secondly, Top Gear started probably around the time when this guy was born.

Also, there's a few little turn offs people come on and off from.

What, and because his s14 is set up for drift it makes it ok??

And that people are there with radios make it ok too?

f**k no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My r33 was used for drifting and supersprints however I did it at the track where its legal. Same with my mx5 - its a track car. I drive it on the street to and from race meets.

Regardless,

What ACA and TT need to do (which they wont) is put their money where their mouth is, if they want kids like this off the street?

BUILD ANOTHER DAMN RACE TRACK IN NSW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get behind the real car enthusiasts and help us to get the government to build another track.

With OP closed, I have no doubt we'll see more street drifting and racing now, which is a shame.

Why is it that when someone does something stupid and gets caught and ACA does there job, which is to sensationalise things, people complain about ACA and jump in to defend the IDIOTS of the world.

This guy is why people get defects on there car or their friends killed.

Im all for doing skids and having fun but FFS, Grow up people.

Completely agree. I'm farken amazed at the number of people going off at ACA and TT.

especially the drift forums. are these guys for real?

"ACA suck, we get a bad name cause of them, Police are now going to target drifting blah blah blah"

Personally if you're doing that on a public road, i hope they take your car and burn it. Seriously there are groups doing drift events on a weekly basis, just check the events section.

But no, we're all to cool for that, and need to take out an innocent family or ourselves to prove how good we are.

As farked up as ACA and TT are, there would be no story if he wasn't doing that on a public road.

in my opinion ur all cut cause u cant drive half as good as him :P (especially DIF, seeing how she always has something to say).

and all this talk about having his car burnt etc. every single person here has sped or broken the law at sometime,so unless ur a saint suck it in and harden the fark up.

if he does something illegal, thats his problem and he is the one who will be forced to face the consequences.

Actually, there are not drift events on a weekly basis, or even a monthly basis. OP is closed, Marulen is closed to drifting indefinately and Eastern Creek have just cancelled one of the drift clubs days there. Right now there is only one club holding drift days and they are only really beginner days on the peanut track at Eastern Creek with no tandem drifting etc.

I don't condone street drifting (99% of the regular drifters don't either), but we are left with almost 0 choice. The media spouting stories that are blatantly false and out of context is only going to force more drifters on to the street.

I wonder how many deaths caused by street drift it will take before someone will listen and give us somewhere legal to practice.

how many threads are needed about this.. and i dont know about NSW but drift events in vic suck virtually non existent or u gota drive 2.5hours and then get defected when ya leaving if your really unlucky.. so yeh perhaps the governments could build some facilites like they do for footy, cricket, tennis basketball you name it and they wouldnt find ppl on the streets.

but aca hasnt brought any more dislike to the car scene then exists already if u cant handle it dont have an modified car.

I heard the tape is 4 years old....So ACA are 4 years behind the times and Carlo doesn't even drive anymore...

Meh more of the same old banter that they drum up at different times throughout the year to cause a stir....and it's worked again

A friend of mine was a passenger in a AW11 on Old Pacific Highway when a AE86 coming the opposite direction decided to to a drift around a blind corner. Two written off cars and a ride to hostpital later everyone was luckily (and relatively...) in good condition. So the driver of said AE86 was the only one forced to deal with HIS stupidity? He was just lucky no one was killed.

I'm not disputing his ability, only his intelligence. The public road isn't the place to go sliding around blind corners in the opposite lane EVER. So what if they use radios to call if there is traffic coming? The fact he recorded it so he could get himself into trouble AND anyone who has a car that even mildy looks like it's a drifter.

I give it 2 weeks until I get asked by a policeman officer if I have been drifting :P

That's exactly my point. Everyone is jumping up and down sayign ACA did this and TT did that. The only person doing somethign illegal was the guy driving (if the road wasn't legally closed off)

The people that need to HTFU, as those having a cry about ACA. Good driver or not, there's no need to do it on the street.

People will drift regardless of whether it's legal or not because it's something they are passionate about. The smart thing would have been to accommodate drifters and give them somewhere legal to practice (like the skate parks built to stop skaters using malls etc), instead we're being used as media pawns in a ratings war.

ACA seem to have no regard for how their sensationalist 'exclusive news' effects innocent people (no, I don't street drift, but this crap isn't helping us fight for somewhere legal to practice).

I wouldnt say Im cut, SAU NSW has some pretty good drivers who compete in drifting, supersprints, prod sports, irace, mra etc

Im not saint, never said I was. Im alot better than what I was 10 years ago. since getting into motorsport a few years ago my attitude has changed alot on the roads.

Yes, it is his problem and he will face the concequences, however what if he kills a family? himself? his family has to live with that.

Its just not worth it.

Tom,

Is anyone doing anything about it?

Being serious, is there anything happening that you're aware of in the drift scene to either lobby the govt or the tracks EC, Wakie etc? Just curious.

I think I've heard somewhere that the tracks don't like it cause it damages the surface. Would those that want to drift be prepared to pay a higher price because of that?

I just can't see a place like Wakie for example turning down a drift day if the group offered to pay some extra towards potential surface damage.

Initial drift, project d and drift mob have all approached Eastern creek as far as I'm aware, but EC have declined to allow drifting on the main circuit. At the moment all we have is the peanut track, which is fine for beginners, but really not big enough for full speed drifting. Also, they canceled all the project d days as they wanted CAMS to inspect the track for insurance purposes (project d wanted to have 4 cars on track at once).

The only time drift damages the circuit is when people 'dirt drop' and wreck the grass along side, though this has all but stopped nowadays.

I'm not sure about Wakie, but nobody has any drift practice days scheduled there (I think I saw on Initial drift that it was fully booked for the year).

The problem is, now OP is closed, every motorsport club is competing for the limited track days and drift is always at the bottom of the food chain.

I agree though, something needs to be done, it's all too easy to sit here an complain on a forum. I think a couple of the more motivated guys have already started to organise themselves as far as lobbying goes...

From IDA forums:

Yeah wakefield are fully booked pretty much... called to book a day and the only available weekend was may29th... so i took it.. sorry Pete.. but your all welcome

so so far 2010 is pretty much driftless

I just had a squiz at the wakie calender and can't find any drift days scheduled but it doesnt look like they update their calender too far in advance...

EDIT: Wakie have 2 drift days this year. May 10th and July 19th. Im sure that's going to keep everyone satisfied all year...
