Hello, just looking at placing order for EBC for my stagea (S2 RS4s) - only mods are HKS 3inch front pipe, superdrager catback exhaust (and cat removed) and R34 GTT brakes fitted. Anyway, was set to get gizzmo MS-IBC (NZ$400) but someone on SDU forum suggested Blitz D-SBC - here in NZ, the spec S (single solenoid) is only $528 - and altho single solenoid has same controller as the dual solenoid spec R unit. anyway - general consensus seems to be that blitz ebc's are good - but just wondering whether this 'reputation' extends to the entry level spec S unit - or do people feel the gizzmo MS-IBC represent better bang for buck at $400 (NZD)? or for the sake of $200 is it best to just get the dual solenoid (currently I have stock turbo and when I get stealth FMIC , im wanting to run 12 psi)

thanks very much

have a mate running the single solenoid job in his GTR32, runs great and totally fixed all boost problems previously felt with a HKS controller.

another mate running a gizmo on a 1JZ TT, seems OK but keeps altering its settings on its own (its meant to) gets annoying when it suddenly starts spiking after a couple of weeks.

blitz has 4 tunable profiles, you can set it up for all out boost, most drivable boost, rain settings etc.. its very good to program and has excellent non-bs functions. my moneys on that

You could just get a bleed valve, for under $50 they give good enough boost control for a stock turbo and leaves $450+ towards your FMIC.

The fancy EBC isn't going to make a large difference to power with the stock turbo, either will get you to the ~200kw limit.

blitz works ok but i think they are ugly and finikey to use . i have an avcr (which people dog but ive had it in 3 diff cars and its worked perfectly ) the only problem is when your cruising on the open road any you put your foot down to get up a hill you get 10psi at 2000 rpom and the ecu throws in heaps of fuel and pulls timing and it goes slow as f**k and chews gas . i turned my controller off recently and let it run .4bar and its such a nicer car to drive . your car will run like a sack of shit at 12 aswell even tho it runs 10 standard itll feel hesistant slow untill you get it past 5000.

i wouldnt spend 500 on an ebc untill you have a bigger turbo or atleast a tunable ecu

where bouts in nz are you . im in chch

i have one of these on my skyline and can honestly say it holds boost and works perfect never had one problem with it although i havent had much experience with other ebc units apart from eboost units on my mates cars which are very finiky and dont feel all that different on different boost settings, just my 2 cents worth

Im in Hamilton - i totally see that current set up isnt really crying out for EBC - but within 2 years - i will be looking at GT3071 or GT3076 turbo and supporting mods etc - plus I dont currently have any form of boost gauge etc - and the wife doesnt really want extra dials etc on dash - so figured that cos I eventually will definitely need EBC soonish - might as well get one now and then at least have boost gauge etc. As for dumping fuel and performing like crap - prior to fitting big bore exhaust/front pipe - my cars boost peaked at 8psi and decreased to 6.5 at top end - with the air/fuel ratio being pretty rich at 10.5:1 (power was 143awkw) - after exhaust - boost increased about 2psi - peaking at 10psi and dropping off to 8psi at top end. Contrary to what you report - my car felt way better (especially at the top end) with the exhaust mods and increased boost - power went to 167awkw. and for the air/fuel ratio - the trace from the pre/post exhaust mods were superimposable - hence no sign of excessive fuel dumping with the increased boost. This is consistent with what I read somewhere on these forums that air/fuel ratios stay pretty much OK up to around 12 or 14psi (cant remember) - im aware the cars are limited to 14psi - but id never run that anyway - look to run 12psi max. hoping getting the boost up to 12psi from 3000-3500 will give alot more mid range punch - as its currently only running 8psi in that region. I realise that there is no substitute for tunable ecu/piggy back etc - however im hoping that the factory computer with it rich maps courtesy of mr Nissan will still be OK at 11-12psi :) see ya

thanks the recommendation Yts (and GTscotT) - i placed order for the Blitz (just gotta wait 3-4weeks now) :) - also - appreciate other comments as well (im probably a little guilty of ebc 'w@nk factor' - but figure its a necessary mod when I eventually take things further - ie 'stage 2' stuff)

see ya
