Hey guys,

Just wondering. I'm still new to Skylines and learning about them but I have one question a search couldn't find for me.

My friend is selling his NA R33, I know personally his kept it in good condition and offered it up to me first before he puts it on the market. The only thing is his is a auto. How hard is it to do a manual conversion and what sort of price would I be looking at roughly? Or should I be just looking at buying a manual to being with? (Gotta admit, find a manual 33 in good condition is hard)

And one other small question, If I stick with just buying a manual R33, Obviously buying one with lower km's is a good idea but what should be about the max it should be?

i wouldn't put too much belief in the kms on the clock. often the true kms of an import isn't what the speedo reads. just find a clean one that seems to match how many kms are on the clock. you may get one that has 80,000kms on the clock but is far from tidy, and you might find one with 140,000kms that is as clean as they come.

as for conversion vs buying manual, i think you will find that buying the one already manual will be a lot cheaper unless you plan on doing the work yourself and can get the parts cheap. if you are going to pay someone else to do it, i know someone who got charged around 5 or 6k drive in drive out. to buy a gearbox, pedal box, clutch, etc (and diff if you want to do it properly) i wouldn't expect much change out of 2k, probably more. i've seen wreckers wanting $1500+ just for the gearbox.

i just got my R34 converted from auto to manual a few weeks ago..

got a turbo rb25 gearbox out of an R33...(went for turbo version in the N/A as its much stronger and much more reliabel) for around 1200 and the rest was just small simple parts and add ons such as a heavy duty clutch etc... cost my 3k cash all up with heavy duty clutch etc... also need a manual tailshaft and sheet like that bro.

here is a copy of my quote mate.. worth looking at for parts etc... this was my first draft quote.. i added a heavy duty clutch aswell as a few other things.. but its a rough guide :) this was through a performance shop in brisbane here..
