hey, im looking at this r32 GTR and MAY be purchasing it in the next few weeks if the final inspection is passed,

its got a standard clutch and its pretty much shagged, only got 30%-ish left

ive been doing abit of searching for clutches for GTR's and alot of people are using twin plate clutches, ive driven my brother inlaws r33 gtr series 3 with a nismo twin plate and that thing was aggresive, it had no "play" soon as the peddle gets to that point its just BAMM...abit too harsh for me, my car will only be used on weekends, city driving, etc no track work

so im just after some opinions on what people are using for a midly modified GTR (mid 200rwkw) that easy to use...

anyone recommmend any of those exedy xtreme OR cerametallic button clutch ??

GTR EQUALS TWIN PLATE

GTRs are made for Launching , so you need a Twin Plate to do this properly

Read the Twin plate thread

i Just installed a NISMO SupperCopper Mix and may have jumped the gun with it a bit

Hell Bitey to start with though the clutch is turning out to be quite a smooth unit

Still with insane grip but with out the shudder as is begins to bed in nicely

yer i got a twin plate in my R and yea they abit of a bitch. but i like it, you could go a single plate but even then if u get something decent its goin to be heavy on the foot and most likly piss you off even more, single plate brass button clutchs will hold decent power, but the second u launch it..... and you will launch it dont even bother sayin you wont, it will most like weld itself to the flywheel, which i have heard of happening...

If its a weekend car mate, buy a twin plate.... if you want something more on the street easy side, get somthing like a Exedy..... they are real light on the foot and they have a rubber between the plates so they dont rattle.

my cars a weeekend car and id never buy anything eles but a twin for it....

For a street driven vehicle, or even one that is lightly tracked, with under 250rwkw I couldn't recommend enough an Exedy Sports Organic kit. They are extremely capable unit and as they feature an organic clutch plate they retain much of the driveability of the factory set-up.

wow how can rubber survive in the heat of a clutch!?

might be a noob question but the GTR being a 4WD, isnt launching with a twinplate really bad for the transmission? or does it put most of the power to the rear?

and while im asking noob questions can someone explain the advantage of pull type clutch (1994 r32gtr) vs the earlier push type?

it wont be driven to and from work, maybe sometimes to my girlfriends place once or twice during weekdays, shes about 20kms away from me

and mostly weekend cruising witht the missus, goin to romantic (hahaha) places with the occasional cruise to wollongong etc

ive currently got an exedy sports tuff heavy duty clutch in my r33, feels good, ican drive all day with it, it grabs realy down low (being new and all) but shes good

i think im gona avoid the twin plate clutch route...

i think the r32 gtrs became pull type after the 02/93 :happy:
