Are you going to run one of they're pumps still?

Nah. I already bought a Reimax pump which I have atm. It has a slightly higher flow capability then the nitto and I think I will need as much as I can get as im running loose clearances and feeding both the turbo and charger from the engines oil supply.

Hopefully tomorrow when I get some time I will be able to write some kind of spiel on the engine build. Be warned I have limited photos as Its a little difficult to take some of myself doing stuff!

The engine is assembled, im just bolting on manifolds and getting everything sorted before it goes back into the car. Dummy fitting things to make sure they still line up and will work then getting ready for final assembly. It really takes alot more time then you think. Then you lose stuff or misplace special cut down bolts and studs and got to remake them. Its quite aggravating when things progress so slowly.

Thats pretty well it as it sits now, except I have the exhaust manifold bolted on and the supercharger mounted. Will get more pictures tonight when I hopefully get the turbo assembled and bolted up!

Just the two vents and one drain bung. Exhaust side has two extra oil returns. I have oil return from charger, oil return from turbo, oil return from side of head between 3 & 4 and oil return from std front.

I am hoping to go, but only if I get the car finished in time and sorted. If not then I wont bother going.

Turbo is assembled and bolted on loosely. Everything appears good so far. Need to get oil and water lines sorted now!

it's going to look absolutely SICK all plumbed up. seeing it now it should work nicely with the charger sucking through the turbo at lower RPM then the turbo blowing through the charger at higher RPM. I'm guessing this way with a shared path you don't need to have tricky 1-way valves/solenoids etc to swap intake paths between turbo and charger.

I hope it kicks arse.

Mate, you are not wrong! Ive spent more time just looking at it some nights then actually working on it lol. Yeh, having it plumbed in this configuration is alot simpler. It would be a nightmare doing it any differently as space is a huge issue!

Alright! Got all the lines finished off and inlet manifold on and the rest of the junk bolted on. It took a few hours of fiddling last night, but she is in!

Quick question (forgive me if I have asked it before)

Have you slowed the blower drive down after fitting the turbo? I think from memory you were running around 1 Bar with the the bypass valve full open?

My thinking is that by slowing the blower down you could run the turbo closer to its peak efficiancy without having to run 50psi to do so (if that makes sense)

Also because I'm curious (and the fact that I wont have to try and get my hand down there lol) will you run a boost gauge beteen the blower and the turbo, would be intesting to see if there is any pressure drop or even gain post supercharger.

Yeh im still working on it...slowly.

That is correct mate, I am slowing the blower down, well trying too anyway. Im attempting to get somewhere between 7-10psi out of the blower, but space is going to prevent that via pulley sizes unfortunately. I can only go so small on the balancer due to the bolt pcd and supercharger can only go so big because of the idler pulley placement. I dont know what the maximum boost could have been before as the belt was slipping to the shit house. It peaked at 19psi with that setup. But the sprintex calculator pulled a figure of about 30psi, but I doubt that it is accurate, even though they have said they can run that much boost.

My own thinking is tracking exactly with your own on this. I would like to run low psi out of the charger and just play with the turbo psi inorder to achieve more flow as the turbo flows atleast 50% more then the charger, otherwise I would be running 50psi by trying to utilise the turbos higher flow capabilitiy. Is that what you are thinking too or something along those lines?

My base calculations at the moment are telling me that 10psi out of the charger and 10psi out of the turbo will net me about 28psi post charger, due to the compounding ability of the setup. Though I would rather less then 10psi out of the charger and make up the rest with the turbo.

Yeh it will be interesting. No idea when though, but im more curious about what the peak power will be and whether the charger will be a restriction or not. Just going to have to wait and see.

Cool. Well it seems like the logical way to go to try and maximise power while trying to keep the boost to a slightly sensible level. Otherwise I will have to run the car on straight methanol to take advantage of the super high boost and not have detonation issues! lol.

You should move here now....its starting to warm up quite rapidly. QLD likes to skip spring and go straight to summer!

    • Pete knows these cars well, he does my car too, if he was concerned about the traction arm length for your use he would have said so. Do you have adjustable bushes in that arm, maybe he got enough adjustment there (or maybe the bump steer was not material for your use of the car)
    • Hmm. Yes. I should have been clearer. 1000s for Haltech, for extra headroom. 725s for Nistune. You might even be OK with 640s, but if the possible power ends up much more than 300 rwkW you will run out of headroom on the 640s. That would probably be OK and a signal to not push it to that sort of power with Nistune anyway. At that level you probably do want to be thinking about engine protection functions. Oh, and all of that presumes 98 only, not E85. Well....the 1000s would allow you to run E85 at ~300rwkW territory, again, maybe sort of running out of headroom. Hard to tell with E85 - depends on the tuner as to how rich they like to set it up.
    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).   
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
