the mechanic rang up and said after taking the front of my engine apart he has found that the cam seals are leaking... now i havent flogged the car at alll and i bought it with 77XXX klms on it... wat would cause the cam seals to leak so early?? or is it uncommon for them to leak oil this early??

i was under the impression i would only get cam seal leaks 200 thousand k's plusss moreee lol :)

Mine have just started leaking too and it's probably done about 80,000kms? I am only going off what the previous owner told me, as the engine was replaced at some stage.

I'm thinking of getting my timing belt and cam seals done too, any idea what a mechanic would charge for this kind of labour? I was going to do it all myself but I really am not into working on engines a great deal.

Update, I actually think my rocker cover seals/gaskets are leaking, not cam seals... Anyone know how I should go about getting these parts?

I know the VRS kit comes with all the seals you need.

Including a head gasket, inlet mani and exhaust mani.

You could go to Nissan and buy them seperate. Probably cost you $100 or there abouts.

VRS kit = $330 from Nissan.
