Hi Fellas.

Ive picked up of front and rear Brembos of an R33 gtr and I was looking into the possible issue that I might possibly get into if Im to fit them on myself.

From what ive searched i know the threads on the bolts are different to the r33gtst calipers.

Im looking at upgrading the brake booster and master cylinder as well from an R33 GTR as well.

Has anyone done this before what are the different issue im likely going to have.

The car is an ABS model.

Any help appreciated.

R33 GTR Bembo's use the same Bolts as in the R33 GTSt, so that is not an issue.

The problem is when you use R34 Brembo callipers, as they run a larger bolt.

Changing them yourself isn't a big job, the most complicated part is bleeding the brakes at the end and that's not very taxing. You may find the old rotors are hard to remove (as they tend to bond to the hub, due to rust) but WD40 and a mallet should get them off.

Ideally you would change the Brake Master Cylinder to a GTR one, but your GTSt cylinder should be up to the job - you may just find that you have slightly more pedal travel than you used to have with the GTSt callipers.

Is there a best practise to bleed the brakes, as in RL then RR, then FL then FR and then Master cylinder or should it be the other way round???

If you don't change the brake master cylinder, you should only need to bleed the system at the individual callipers.

As for the best order to bleed them, I didn't think there was one. I'd just swap out one calliper at a time, then bleed that calliper (making sure you have a firm pedal), then swap the next calliper, and bleed it, check pedal, and so on.

If you swap all the callipers at once, and then try to bleed them in one go, it can be hard to ascertain which calliper may still have air in it (if you are still getting a soft pedal after bleeding all four).

don't change the booster or master cylinder, no real point, GTSt one is fine

Brembos aren't a huge step up from the Sumitomos but a nice upgrade, just make sure you run decent pads and fluid otherwise you may as well have left the standard calipers and spent the money on pads/fluid/lines etc

don't forget to bleed both sides of the caliper either. your old ones only had a bleeder on the outside. the brembos have bleed nipples on the inside and outside. do both.

your biggest issue with fitting the brembos on an r33 gtst is that they will make f**k all difference.

the gtst has pretty good brakes standard.

the brembos are pretty small for an upgrade.

they are a very bad choice $$$ for buck. either work on your standard setup (lines, good fluid, good pads) or go for something much better like the g4/d2/ksport 8 piston gear

33 GTR does not use the same bolts as a 33gtst.. The Thread is different and the length is different. You cant use the gtst bolt because it is the wrong thread and the gtr bolt is too long.. Any bolt store will be able to give you bolts that will suit. Just take gtst bolt for length reference and gtr bolt for thread reference.. The front heat shield will have to be bent back to accommodate the larger rotor. The rear rotor will fit because it as the same diameter. (just thicker and more pad contact area)..
