Okay I picked up a diff for my S15 that I am swapping an RB26DETT into. I have gathered that the diff is a 4.3 ratio and has LSD as when I spin the halfshaft both turn. Can anyone tell me if the diff is a VLSD or an LSD, is there anyway easy way to know as I want to swap in some new Redline gear oil but want to know which one to use. Here are some pics if someone can tell me it would be great. I am not seeing the viscous sticker on it but not sure if it may have fell off.

They are viscous 4.11 ratio.

Remember once you get over 260 rwkw, they'll become unpredictable.

Mine is worn though, never tried new oils.

I thought the S15 had cool helical diff anyway..

Manual s15's do the autos still had viscous think the manual s15 helical diff was 3.962:1 from memory

The Manual Helical Diff has a 3.69:1 ratio. Unless you're running the S15 6 speed (which probably won't be able to handle the power of the RB26DETT) then the ratio will be too tall.

What you probably should have done, is swap the S15 Helical centre into your S15 Viscous diff. As it's a much better centre than the viscous one... I recently changed the VLSD in my R32 to the S15 Helical centre, and it has been an awesome improvement.
