Had a search and couldn't find a definite answer for the r34. Anyways i am getting the blinking air bag light on the dash. Happened this afternoon after getting my car tinted. The only thing that the tinter could of accidentally touched are the cables underneath the driver/passenger seat are these related to airbags?

Also found another thread that said the reset for r33's is to press the door switch 7 times within 10 seconds of turning ignition on but wasn't able to find any confirmation on if this works for r34's.

ok guys anyone with the flashing airbag light in the r34 i have found the reset procedure to use is this one:

http://www.nissanforums.com/966228-post7.html

Reads:

Here's the process to reset the air bag light (copied from somewhere else on the forum)... I tried it and it works.

If you have the airbag light, it will show steady for a few seconds (the manual says 7 secs) after you turn the key from off to on (but not start) and then start to flash. Here is how to reset it:

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

Ok went for a drive to get some fuel still have the issue gonna have to check all the cables under the seats. Looked at the service manual says there are side side airbags in the seats and the cables underneath the seats are for the sensor module for these side airbags bit of looking around for me tomorrow

Sorry bit of misinformation earlier in this thread.

To enter diagnostic mode is very similar to the r33 but you press the door switch 5 times in 7 seconds.

Then once i was in diagnostic mode i turned the ignition off for 5 seconds and then back on and that cleared the error. Doing the method already mentioned seemed to get me into diagnostic mode but wouldn't clear the fault for some reason.

Hopefully this helps someone down the track

Hey; Reviving the old thread.

I have my airbag light blinking too. I haven't changed anything in the car recently so its pretty strange. Standard steering wheel and dash. I did have a major sound system installed about 4 months ago; and had the glovebox out to change the air con filters about 5 weeks ago.

It happened when i started the car to get home from work yesterday.

I followed the reset procedure and it stopped for a day; when i started her up this morning it was back again.

I've found countless procedures for removing the light globe or covering it with electrical tape.

Lets not do that. It's part of the safety system of the car and i'd really like to know why it is complaining.

Bearing in mind the cause is still there because after resetting it did come back; my question(s) is:

Why generally does the airbag warning light start flashing in 34's?

If i went to Nissan would they Diagnose it or have no idea?

What further steps could i take to find the problem?

Good afternoon gents;

Alex

I saw on the workshop manual that it also happen when the battery voltage goes below 9 v. So check that to

i would try disconnect the battery and unplug all the airbag plugs and then plug them back up and unplug the airbag computer and plug that back up again and then plug the battery back up and reset the airbag computer and see if the airbag light stays off, if it finds a problem with it then it will go back on. Isnt there also a sensor in the bumper bar for the airbag as well? im not to sure but if there is try unplug and plug that back up as well. You would be amazed at how just unplugging something and plugging it back in can fix a problem if it has to do with a connection, and there are alot of wires on the airbag computer and it would only take 1 of them to have a bad connection for it to show up an error. It may not work but its definatly worth a try, it doesnt cost anything

    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
