If the wastegate (integral or external) is on the exhaust side...

And the build up air/pressure is on the intake side...

Then... How does the pressurized air from the intake side get to the exhaust side without going through the motor because you have lifted of the throttle?

lemmy try

when u lift off the throttle, build up of pressure happens on the intake side, vaccum line (to register boost pressure) to the wastegate registers pressure pushing on the wastegate diaphram opening it up

but, when we were dyno tuning my car i didnt notice any evidence of this happening while i was watching the wastegate actuator

BTW my comment to drifto was re the bullshit. I must admit that I didn't read his whole post at the time. I have now read it and he seems to have confused wastegate with BOV in his first paragraph.

R31Nismoid you are right to be confused by his post.

that makes it alot more audible as iv noticed

yep, my mates rex didnt make the flutter noise at all, then as he got the fmic he also got that metal pipe... Now it flutters... His pipe also has a 90 degree bend in it which will make the flutter more noticable.

im well aware of that :D

considering the amount of :bs!: on the forums... drifto did well in his post i think

but james... opening the wastegate no worries, but what exhaust is it bypassing if the throttle is shut?

yeah, a little bit... but by no means a lot like an RB at full song :D

and go the metal intake pipe, it rocks.

i say leave the flutter noise for the vls, from wat i know, even if the 'flutter' noise does not damage the turbo(which has yet to b proven), it WILL induce MORE lag than wat the car had wif the factory BOV. it will be especially noticeable will coming on boost and on gear changes, thats y cars hav BOVs to reduce turbo lag, now if u wanna sacrifice that for a pigeon like noise(i dont c why it is so popular) than thats up to u, but i for one prefer a solid pssshhhh.
