Firstly, the Police do focus hugely on drug dealers and the use of drugs. They have a lot of squads to deal with said issues, they have squads that specialize in car theft also. I wouldn't say they focus on the road toll more than drug users. The police force is extremely political at times... some young people have died recently in some horrific crashes, so it's just a knee jerk reaction basically. And really... in the end, it's not that hard to get your car engineered or keep it legal.

# Don't have big f**k off wheels

# 10cm off the ground, is this really that hard? I hate my car lower than this height anyway

# POD in enclosed box

# bov plumbed back

Don't be a smartarse and you won't get done for shit like 'no H sticker' for the gear nob or seatbelt retracting slow etc haha.

This post is so warped it beggars belief. Those # + # + #+# are so damn TRIVIAL compared to the effort to clamp down on drugs and alcohol related crime.

Drug & Alcohol counsellors already know that confidential info can't be entrusted to certain units around Sydney. CLEAN IT UP monsieur scipione!

one funny thing i lived in sydney for bout 4.5yrs had my skyline n other rediculously low loud modified cars didnt get pulled over once for mods just for a p plate that had fallen off lol that was yrs ago.I move back to the central coast n i get pulled over 9 times in 3 months. So wats the reason for this?

If ppl have modified cars not being morons etc leave us alone. If we doin stupid shit than come down on us til then go n do real police work instead of worrying bout revenue.I was driving on a sunday arvo down the f3 doin bout 105kph minding my own business drove past a highway patrol same speed a mate was like 1km behind me an the cop car went past him like he was standing still just so the cop could catch me pull me over put shit on my car defect me tell me that the inside of my tyres are worn cos my tyres drag round corners lol whilst tellin me his a mechanic (wouldnt have anything to do with 5degrees or neg camber) all im sayin is f**k off n leave us alone ay seriously gettin over it

If you're not doing anything wrong and you get pulled over, most of the time if you just pass the attitude test they'll let you go. Maybe not with bald tyres because well that's just dangerous ... but if your car is too low or loud etc they'll most likely let you go.

Don't be a f**kwit to someone who has the power to arse rape you, it's not rocket science.

you didnt tell me about this when i seen you on monday !!!!

but he has got a point .... ive been out several time when travis has been hammered on the coast and its just redicules how the highway patrol units see modfied cars out and about and just try to make an example of us

for example

i was out with a mate on monday morrning in his R33 coming down the motorway link road near blue haven here on the central coast and we pasted this blue marked highway patrol unit ..... HE TURNED AROUND ,NELLY TOOK OUT 4 CARS ..... just because he seen a modfied skyline with a front mount and green P's on the car

in this case he defects my mate

for his 20"s

pod ( which i might just add , its inclosed in a box)

exhaust

and BOV which is also plumbed back

just to add he red stickered the car saying it was unsafe ....... its one of the safest skylines ive been in * thats including my r33*

so you cant tell me that they dont target modfied cars just so that they can make them selfs looks busy

i myself have been pulled over in my own driveway and the copper turned around to me and said i cant defect you because you are in your own driveway

if they are going to pull us over for being compleat tools ... thats all well and good

but if they are just going to pull us over just to see what they can defect or make some sort of example of us is wrong

why both doing that when they can be out patrolling and upholding the laws that people brake all the time eg: running stop signs etc

thats all i have to say about this matter

and i know some of you may not agree with me but if you are on the road as much as me and see this day in ,day out you will see where i am comming from

sorry for the long post guys lol

The cop saw your friends big f**k off wheels... do they happen to be chrome too?

i'd defect anyone rolling around on chromed 20's if i was a highway patrol just so people take those ugly useless things off and make the world a pretty place.

Also being up on the coast the coppers probably know your cars pretty well, maybe someone has given a bit of lip or they've had complaints and they pick on you now, who knows?

If it wasn't for the wheels you probably wouldn't have been red stickered

and speeding with bald tyres???? seriously its not like you were asking for police attention or anything :P

end of the day Cops are always right unless a Judge says otherwise

put decent wheels, get rid of the non standard bov because they are useless, my mate is running 25ish psi on a standard r33 gtst bov and it handles exactly the same as one of those attention seeking ones,

get exhaust and pod (FMIC if you have) engineered, and it'll all be sweet, otherwise you made your bed now lie in it and stop crying like your the victim when you know that these mods arn't strictly speaking legal mods anyway

Hi all,

I don't know if you guys are aware where the actually law is laid out. In law school we look at the executive power given to police and FYI:

S 189 (2) of the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsiblities) Act 2002 state:

If the police officer is of the opinion that the person concerned is under the influence of alcohol, the person is entitled to request that the person undergo a breath test in order to determine whether or not the person is under the influence of alcohol. If such a request is made, the police officer may not take any action under subsection (1) until the person undergoes the breath test.

Basiclly this is the most offen used excuse a police officer will use when pulling you over and its legal as long as he has REASONABLE suspicion that you are intoxicated i.e. your driving is bad, you not staying in your lane.

Also..

S 36

(1) A police officer may, without a warrant, stop, search and detain a vehicle if the police officer suspects on reasonable grounds that any of the following circumstances exists:

(a) the vehicle contains, or a person in the vehicle has in his or her possession or under his or her control, anything stolen or otherwise unlawfully obtained,

(b) the vehicle is being, or was, or may have been, used in or in connection with the commission of a relevant offence,

© the vehicle contains anything used or intended to be used in or in connection with the commission of a relevant offence,

(d) the vehicle is in a public place or school and contains a dangerous article that is being, or was, or may have been, used in or in connection with the commission of a relevant offence,

(e) the vehicle contains, or a person in the vehicle has in his or her possession or under his or her control, a prohibited plant or prohibited drug in contravention of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985,

(f) circumstances exist on or in the vicinity of a public place or school that are likely to give rise to a serious risk to public safety and that the exercise of the powers may lessen the risk.

(2) A police officer may, without a warrant, stop, search and detain a class of vehicles on a road, road related area or other public place or school if the police officer suspects on reasonable grounds that any of the following circumstances exist:

(a) a vehicle of the specified class of vehicles is being, or was, or may have been, used in or in connection with the commission of an indictable offence and the exercise of the powers may provide evidence of the commission of the offence,

(b) circumstances exist on or in the vicinity of a public place or school that are likely to give rise to a serious risk to public safety and that the exercise of the powers may lessen the risk.

At the end of the day if your pulled over for an RBT and you speak with the officer. Make sure ask him the reason he pulled you over and why he reasonably suspects that reason to be true. I havent found yet a law that states that if an officer suspects if your car is defective im sure its out there but still. There was a case we looked at where a P plater was pulled over for "looking Smart" in his supra, he was found and charged with possession of marjiuana but the case was dismissed on that fact that he was illegally pulled over.

So yea i always record the police officer no matter what and i let him know as well just to put him on the spot to make sure he is doing his job correctly and legally.

I hate the fact that most people have no idea about the actually law and that police use this to their advantage at times. Remeber the police also have very strict procedure they must follow, if they dont their case will not hold up in court. I guess Australia is just a pleace where people give up their freedoms when the word safety is thrown into the equation. Oh well more money for politicans and lawyers :D Funny this is that i found ,work in the Building/Construction industy, that more people die from OH&S Hazards in buildings then safety issues (Defects) in cars. I dont see that many building owners caught/fined for this let alone such a waste of tax payer money.

putting a cop on the spot would have him on the defence, if there is nothing wrong with your car you have nothing to worry about, if you have something thats a defectable item you are much better off not stating legislation, making a point about recording his identity, asking about why you were pulled over, only do this after it looks like you can't get out of a fine.

Basically if you act like a smart ass (what he thinks is a smart ass) he will try harder to give you a fine. Questions should be left till a point where he is already about to give you the fine, only then you have nothing to loose and you can try and catch a weakness that wont holdup in court. And hopefully he will reconsider the fine if he thinks its a waste of time, on the other hand he doesn't loose anything by going to court, it all happens in his work time. If your a big "know it all" and i was a cop, i'd waste your time by making you go to court purely for the satisfaction that another kid giving me lip was having to waste his time instead of going to the beach or earning money at work...

In the end just be polite and reasonable and keep your cool because if you rub a cop the wrong way, he can waste your time and cost you money even if it doesnt stand up in court...

a great example of this was "highway Patrol" tv series that was on a few nights ago,

A couple of guys in melbourne were pulled over because the car had damage to the front, lady cop thought she'd just make sure it would be safe to drive it if it got dark, basically she was about to give the guys a warning that if it gets dark and the light doesn't work, they could get a fine.

Long story short these 2 guys gave her lip and she was on a mission, she pulled out her yellow sticker and searched the 1985 toyota carrola for safety, the headlight was fine, but because of their attitudes and one guy demanding why they got pulled over, she found that a seatbelt tensioner was worn out (defectable) rear vision mirror was not on the car (defectable again). If they hadn't been smart she would have let them go with just some friendly advise saying that they could get a fine if driving at night, instead they copped it up the ass for nothing

I saw that episode a few months ago, it was awesome watching those guys get into more and more trouble.

Wrong. Awww your cute, getting all legal and you even quoted real material! NSW police officers are allowed to pull any car over, at any time, for a random breathe test. It's RANDOM you twit. They're allowed to pull over an old grandma, sticking within her lane driving the speed limit at 10am.

I find it hard to believe a Cop actually said he pulled over a guy in a Supra for "looking smart". That story either doesn't exist, or he was really dumb. Why would you say that, when he could just as easily say "I pulled over the subject for an RBT, at that point in time I could see marijuana in the back seat of his car, I then asked the subject to step out of the vehicle and told him that his vehicle was going to be searched for drugs."

Telling a Cop you're recording him so that he does his job properly will only piss him or her off and you'll find yourself with defects. Seriously this isn't that hard to comprehend people. Cops are human beings, Cops find it hard to fine nice and respectful people.

A friend of mine is a Cop... you know what he told me the other day. "Dude I find it really hard to fine people, but when it comes to f**kwits, I smile from ear to ear and have no problem giving them fines or defects" -- He's a hardass too, he thought he would fine everyone and not care, but that's just not the case. If you pull over some dude that's a tradie who just did a u-turn at an intersection because he's lost and trying to get to the job. Then when you come up to his window and he says he's really really sorry but he's in a hurry and he knows that he did wrong and that he wouldn't do it again... would you seriously give him a fine? You'd have to be a dick to do that. But if you rock up to his window and he's like "what the f**k do you want im late for work omfg" being a rude flamin mongrel, would you fine him? I would!

90% of it is attitude!

    • Update: Tunehouse looked into the problem and identified a wiring issue between the camera unit and the connector. They managed to get it working , but did warn me at some point it will stop working again. From their perspective it is unserviceable and will need replacement. They did some research and found that the new replacement camera would be Approx $1400 supply only (their fitting cost would be $190) . They did provide the part number (28442-JL05B) and a quick google of the part number shows that these are rather expensive brand new (seemingly no longer in manufacture) for the places that still have them in stock, with the used option potentially presenting  the same issue down the track at some unknown point. They are happy for me to supply the part so that they can fit it. Decisions, decisions... I can definitely recommend Tunehouse (thankyou Vee37!). Cost for the diagnosis was as quoted  ($190) , car was ready on time and communication was top notch. Their workshop is super clean and modern, and there was plenty of car candy parked out the front on the day I went.   Would definitely go back.

For the outdoor air sensor and sunlight sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN1-11 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. For the indoor air sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN2-3 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. The connector PIN numbers listed here are the genuine A31 PIN numbers. To avoid incorrect wiring, check with a tester before wiring. Also, disconnect the wiring in a location close to the sensor.
