i was hoping that someone can give me some feedback as what is good brand for replacement coil packs- i have ocational hesitation on take off and i have swapped them with second hand OEM ones, but really i'm pretty sure i will buy new ones shortly as this is really common on all skylines!

Apart from SPITFIRE is there any other brands that are more reasonably priced?

I mean when i look at my application i think that spitfire may to over kill for my purpose. I will look into it and make a decision shortly.

The best feedback is from user rather than saleman/ company, so i value this greatly. Thank you

^^ I have Splitfires and they are great!

I have seen Yellow Jackets for about $370 + and Splitfires are about $480 +

Ppl seem to think Yellow Jackets are good, if you don't want to spend as much on Splitfire, Yellow Jacks seem to be a good option.

When I was looking at coils I was tossing up between the three major brands. Splitfires, Yellow Jackets and the Just Jap coils all had much the same mix of reviews. I.e. great product, sporadic cases of people receiving faulty items but in all cases were replaced by the manufacturer. I reckon you'll be happy with whichever one you go for.

What's important to me is after sales support. I know Yellow Jackets back their product because after I posted an honest review of them on the forums (including report of a minor installation issue I had with one of the brackets on a coil) one of the Yellow Jackets guys came on SAU and queried me about it, offering to replace etc.

got yellow jackets for myself. fixed my misfiring i had for 2 years. i tried heaps of things including swapping 2nd hand coils, taping them up with high temp tape, 0.8mm gap plugs, rewiring my ignition power supply with high current relays and changing cas. i now run 1.1mm gap iridiums no probs. although i do remember having to file the bracket or something coz the yellow jackets were slightly bigger.

sorry to bring up such an old thread but can someone confirm this?

are yellow jackets a straight fit? ie , nothing required to replace them?

They are a straight fit, no modification required. Just make sure, if you have an R33 GTS-T, that you identify whether you are series 1 or series 2 - coilpacks differ between these two models.

lol

Most of them are probably made in the same Chinese factory and will work fine, but I have used YJs in 260-350rwkw cars with no issue. Even done back to back with Splitfires - the differences were negligible and some areas of the dyno graph were in the favour of YJs.

Plus Paul (Performance Wise) is a great guy, if you ever have issues he looks after you.

as matt said, the brand probably means zero

any brand new coil pack will perform better than 15+ yrd old coilpacks

oem, splitfire, yellow jacket

i put splitfires in my ecr33 when it had misfire on boost, fixed it no problems

I got a set of YJs from Performance Wise and about two weeks in two of them died. I contacted Paul (from performance wise) sent him some pics of them and he sent me out a full set of replacements within a couple days. The second set have performed flawlessly for the past year.

I recommend them and recommend getting them through Performance Wise. Yes, I had an issue, but Paul was great getting it sorted very quickly and without me having to take my car off the road (I sent him the defective ones after he sent out the replacements).
