Saw an accident at the Gundaroo Drv/Barton Highway roundabout today. A P plater was hit by a truck who didn't give way and he spun off the road, if there was a passenger they would have been hurt for sure. The worst thing was there was at least 20 cars around the roundabout, some driving right behind him that just drove off. We had to drive over a traffic island and concrete divider then run across the road as only one other car stopped to help and be a witness. The truck driver wasn't going to admit fault either.

Anyone else noticed this happen? A simple witness statement can save an innocent person thousands of dollars who would otherwise be burned(its happened to me), not even thinking about the fact that if there was a passenger they could have been killed and people who saw it happen drove past as if nothing happened!

I would always stop if I saw an accident! The last time it happened, I saw a taxi change lines straight into a guy in his work van... I was directly behind them, so I stopped and offered myself as a witness. Good thing too, the taxi driver was starting to crap on and I just said "Don't try to say it wasn't your fault, I SAW you - you drove straight into him" and then he shut up. Never got called about it.

I probably wouldn't stop if it looked like there was other people helping, the last thing you need is heaps of cars all stopping and blocking the traffic.

I hit a 'roo on my motorbike near Bendigo and was laying on the road with the bike arse up etc and ppl drove around me like I was a bad pothole!!! I always stop if I'm one of the first, otherwise I try to keep out of peoples way.

I'd always stop for an accident, because as you made obvious, it's sad how many people don't. I'd especially stop just so I could be a witness if it was someone doing something STUPID, or clearly in the wrong. If it's only something minor, and blatently obvious who's at fault, and nobody would be injured, I wouldn't necessarily stop, unless I saw it happen right in front of me.

I stopped and provided first aid to a lady on Monday this week.

It was Pee'ing down rain and she slid off the road rounding a corner going down Black Mountain minutes before I arrived on the scene. She hit several tree's and a large rock and came to rest 3-4 meters off the road between 2 tree's WTF.

Facial cuts / abrassions and likely broken her nose judging by the swelling. She was in shock obviously and couldn't remember much. The car was pushed in badly so it was nearly half a car and luckily she was alone as any other occupants would most likely not have survived. The battery was meters away and the rear window had blown out.

A man and his wife pulled over just before I did and called 000. We had 2 police cars, ambulance and even a fire truck within 5-10 minutes at the scene.

Honestly it made me feel good being able to help.

i saw a guy on a bike that had hit the guard rail on glenlock, he was still in the guard rail, but there were 2 other cars there already and an ambulance, so i figured i'd just have gotten in the way

Unless your SES or have some sort of training that is perfectly fine if people have already stopped.

few weeks ago at braidwood a 75 y.o. man was in front of us in a jeep cherokee, he basically just went straight off the road and head on into one of thoes tall arse popular tree. my wife is trained nurse, and me with all the battlefield first aid training from the army, we got straight into helping him. he was fairly well cactus, 110km/h into a thick tree doesnt give you much chance at all.

he lasted 7 minutes, as the ambulance pulled up he was gone.

i then spent 5 min pulling fuses out as the fuel pump was still pressurising and leaking EVERYWHERE....

about 6 cars stopped to help, 100 or so went past (incl. a hot as Grey R34)

Love that, your dealing with mayhem and all and still have time to do a bit of spotting. Just another day at the office hey!!

DAMINIT!!!! FYI THIS IS MELLY!!!!!

That is where I have SES training, RFS training and 14 years of first aid training. Being in St John if I see an accident I have to stop because if st john finds out I don't than I can actualy get into trouble for it. (unless of course there are already police/ambulance etc there) If there are only other cars no emergency services and it looks like i would be needed I have to stop.

And Zane is that the one we saw that night??

Worst accident I have ever seen was in Griffith a truck hit my friends car and kill him instantly, there were 3 other people in the car ther were injured but not seriosuly, I happened to be driving home from a party when I saw it, the worst part is that it was literally 200m down the road from my friends house. (The truck didn't give way) I was 17 at the time and it was horrible.

    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
    • Doing a refresh of my 33 and can see a few websites stating they sell the entire main carpet for our cars, but they all have generic photos which is fine, i understand they are custom made to order.  Just seeing if anyone has got it done or had any experience with this, as i would only want to do it if the fit and finish was as good as oem https://carmatsdirect.com.au/products/moulded-carpet-or-vinyl-for-nissan-skyline-r33-1993-1998-coupe https://knoxautocarpets.com.au/moulded-carpets/nissan/skyline/skyline-r-33-1993-1998/
    • Any plans for E85? If so, add flex fuel sensor.   I'd probably add in the sensors I mentioned above if the Link will support using them for engine protection. With water pressure, you need to be able to effectively set it that "If temp > X, and pressure = atmospheric, shutdown" as at running temp, you should be able to read pressure in the cooling system. If pressure suddenly disappears, it means the water went some where, and this is a quicker reaction than waiting on water temp to go up (Which, can take a little longer than you'd like, considering it now has to wait for hot air to heat it up) Oil pressure, Oil temp, both would be on my list too if you're looking to add sensors. Wideband O2. And at least one EGT sensor. If you're feeling deluxe, put in individual runner EGTs. Single EGT sensor is more so forget about a specific number, get used to "What is normal EGTs", and then keep an eye on it, if it starts going away from "normal" it's a sign something is wrong (Also, things like the tune can still start going out of spec, but EGTs may not show it, for example one injector starts running leaning, so ECU richens everything up, now 5 out of 6 cylinders are rich, and running cool, with one cylinder lean and running hotter, so it's not perfect) Then there is your other things to look at non sensor related, but you may have already done, or have underway, and that would be things like building a sump for more oil, and better oil control under high G-Forces (Cornering, brakes, acceleration). Basically, the above is worth looking/thinking about, if the ECU can do protective stuff with it, and you continue to use it how you are (Drive it to the track, thrash it, drive home, repeat once every 3 to 4 months)
    • Can also confirm these work a treat for most balljoints and bushes. If you have access to a big rattle gun, they make the job so much easier and quicker, compared to using a socket wrench or shifter on the c-clamp 👍
    • Its sort of street but got used for circuit sprints on account of I never drive it on the road because I dont have the time to spare. So it usage was sits around for months at a time then gets driven either 50 or 250 kms to the track followed by 20 laps followed by 50 or 250kms home followed by stuck in the shed until next time. So yeah neither fish nor fowl. Just dont want to break it on the track as a preference. Hence the fairly short sensor/mod list. Probably more worried about it pinging itself to destruction more so than anything oil related.
