Why Do R33 Number Plates Lift Up?

Hey guys,

I have asked this to alot of people and have had alot of different answers does anyone know why they just didn't bolt them down?

because japs were thinking ahead incase you wanted to suck a speeding camera in and lift the plate and go through it ahahah

to allow more air in the front.. the number plate can restrict a fair bit of air..

We talking about the front or the back? Always thought about mounting a little electric motor on the rear plate

Yea back plate the front doesn't move :s. Haha i was thinking of that motor setup aswell.

Someone told me they went up for trader plates.

undo that single bolt at the back of the car under the number plate, whole thing swivels up n down...

My R34 does it too, at over 120 KM/H.

its so u can take off the rear bumper without taking off the number plate =)

You can get front ones that fold down inward towards the intercooler. But yeah the back one was what i thought u were talking about.

its just that jap plates lift up better than our thin ones

springs under plate hinges, R31 boot release cable holding down.... sorted...

In Japan there is a little seal on the left bolt that keeps you from removing the plate without messing it up. When you remove the bumper, this allows it to be done without breaking the seal.

I through i was for so when you take your rear bar off you can still have the number plate on and it also holds to middle of the rear bar on your car....
