Hi Guys,

Hoping someone might have some useful tips for getting in to my boot. Last night i took a bit of a knock on the rear end and after opening the boot, the latch no longer lined up and it wouldn't shut.

I was able to slightly bend the metal latch on the car side, and slightly bend the latch on the boot side so they lined up and closed. I knew it was a possibility the latch wouldn't release after this but I had a fair trip home and needed it to stay shut.

Basically now the latch won't release with either the key or the in-cabin boot release, I've thought about taking the back seats out, removing the metal plate and trying to crawl through the tiny gap but I've got a lot of audio equipment in the boot and wouldn't be able to reach the latch anyway.

Any tips from anyone? It was the fender that took a hit and the boot lid is still in fine condition so I'd prefer not to go smashing it open if it can be avoided, but I might not have much choice left.

Thanks,

Nick.

first of all, have someone help you. that will make like easier. then have them sit in the car and pull and hold the release while you try and lift open the bonnet. if need be get a screwdriver to try and help lever it up.

also if you know which way it was catching, try and use the screwdriver on the side of the boot to push it in the direction it needs to go to try and free it up a bit.
