Hi Fellas,

Finally got my aircon regassed today and thought id drive home in a nice car to find that the connectors on the air con compressor thing thats connected to the fan belts is not connected.

Now the history of the car was it went from an rb25det to an rb26dett and i had the engine and chassic wiring loom changed to suit the rb26dett so that it wasnt a hack job with the rb25 wiring loom.

Now my question is where do i start looking for these connectors. Ive looked around and cant find anything. I dont have any wiring diagram either.

Can anyone help with this please. Also the car is an r33

Cheers

Ray

The gas is in the system, it has nothing to do with the re-gassing. It has to do with the connectors on the air con compressor. I cant find it. I presume it will connect to the engine loom somewhere and im looking for info on where to find those connectors

To be a bit more clearer, heres a pic circled in red for which i would like to know where the connector is.

Also after i was looking for the connectors and moving the wiring loom, now once i turn the ignition on the thermo fan turns on which it never used to. Cold or hot dont matter???

Help....

Something sounds fishy.

Like already said, to regas the system, it *must* be running to get it right otherwise its a complete guess job. No reputable workshop would say they regassed it without testing it, unless you stubbornly insisted they do.

The only way to test it is to run it. You cannot get the correct amount of gas in without running the system and measuring low and high side pressures. If you underfill it, the evaporator will ice up on one side. If you overfill it, you could destroy the compressor. Likewise, you cannot verify if the AC thermostat, wiring (oh snap), TX valve, low/high pressure switch and a myriad of other things are working without testing the AC runs.

Also, the AC runs from the climate control, through the engine computer. You say the chassis loom was replaced, was it all from the same year model GTR? This means you had the dash out and replaced the loom that runs from the battery, through the driver side firewall above the accelerator, into the SMJ, behind the dash (including the climate control), all the way to the passenger side where the ECU is. If that's the case, it should all just work. The plug for the AC compressor should be part of the engine loom.

Hi Bozz,

Thanks for that, yup im just suspecting that the plug on the compressor didnt get connected. Do you know where roughly from the chassic loom, this connector would start out also if needed what colour codes are the wires???

Damn no one wants to look under their bonnet i suppose. Well if some one can point me in the right direction on where this connector ought to be that would be good or worst case just the colour codes, please.....

Need to get this sorted

Hey dude, I replied to your pm just a second ago, but figured that if anyone else came across this issue then it might be handy to paste it here too:

So my mechanic friend had a look at the colour codes for you, and he says that there are two plugs going to the compressor. The closest plug to the front of the engine is a single wire and it goes to the magnetic clutch. The plug furtherest away is blue with an orange stripe.

As for the loom plugs, he said that they come out from under the air box (I’ve got a fairly fixed cold air box so we didn’t take it off and have a thorough look, but they should come out under where the high side of the air con pipe is).

I hope that helps!

Not sure if that's exactly what you were after, but fingers crossed it helps in some way.
