My nm35 engine warning light is on. My mechanic hooked up the diagnosis tool and it came up as cam angle sensors. Has anyone had the same problem if share your experience. I was told its a common thing with vq25det.

yes, I believe it is a common problem. Apparently it was a common fault with the Aust delivered Pulsars of the early 2000's models where this part is common.

My car was showing the warning light on and clearing it self. As it got worse the motor would stop at random times at speeds up to 70km/h, so not the most enjoyable experience.

I had the part replaced, in my case, right bank (drivers side) and the problem was all solved. less a few dollars taken by the Nissan dealer.

Cheers

Andy

I was told $400 each . What do you think?

that was about what I paid for one fitted.

You don't meed to replace both do you?

Have yours got a mark of yellow paint on them? The reason I ask is this was a Nissan recall in Japan and when they checked them they marked them with this paint.

No idea about the yellow mark. My mechanic is very trustworthy but $400 sounded expensive for a sensor. I thought maybe someone knows where to get one cheaper. But if $400 is the norm then i will just cough it up.

Which sensor is it? Don't quote me but I think these are the numbers.

Drivers side: 23731-6J906

Passenger side: 23731-AL616

Seem to just have different plug arrangement. Same on most VQ's if not all so you should check the Z33 parts in the states perhaps.

$400 sounds a bit steep.

Replaced my Bank 1 cam angle sensor last week, PArt was $160 from nissan and fitting was only 1x10mm bolt at the back of the head near the firewall. The hardest part was removing the harness connector (positive locking connector). Car is much better not. Fault code was 0340

Yesterday my car stalled while cruising at about 60km/h, luckily on a back street, and then threw this code at me aswell (0340).

I want to replace both cam angle sensors as there are no silver or white dots indicating a recall was done in japan.

Just want to check that the part numbers above are correct (Scotty seemed a little unsure) so I can order them from my friendly Nissan dealer...

That is a FUN moment when the car stalls at 60km/h...... lol requires a bit of focus to sort it quickly.
