I don't know whats more scary.. the fact that he asked or the fact that you know

Used to detail cars, NEVER wanted to know what I was cleaning but carpet shampoo Usually gets MOST things out and if that doesn't degreaser works on most other things.

Did you guys actually plan anything for the cleanage of the cars?

I might be up for something provided I actually get my car back in time.

Would also appreciate any tips on good products for cleaning the engine bay. Not sure if I'm that motivated but just in case

Just use degreaser on everything (might want to put plastic bags over sensitive bits and clean with degreaser and a rag) and rinse it off. Don't do it while the engine is hot, but about 10-15 minutes after it's been off. Won't deform anything and the warm engine will dry water if it's gotten anywhere it shouldn't. Start the car once your done to ensure it dries out. After having it run for 5 minutes let it cool down a bit again and use a plastics cleaner (armorall sell a pretty cheap one) to spray everything with and start your car (again) to make sure it dries.

I don't like using water in the engine bay, do it at your own risk. I've had one car run a bit funny after doing it, I dried all the connections and after a while I got it back to normal, but I'm sure if you don't do this all while the car is warm worse could happen. I've detailed about 20 engine bays and only had one small and easy to fix problem. Not sure what other peoples experiences are. Just don't spray water on your engine while it's still at normal running temps. It will deform the metal. When I do mine and Shell's I'll be sealing the valley and doing that bit with a rag - Don't want water sinking down there.

Well I'm not going away this weekend anymore so

still meeting at the usual spot on saturday morning?

The event is on Sunday the 21st I think this is the 3rd time I have pointed it out in this thread!!

ITS ON SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deep Breath :bunny:

I'll be there, but car will most likely be covered with bugs and other associated stuff as I'll be at the coast the day before. Unless I can be bothered giving it a good wash the night before.

Kat, we're using Damo's driveway in Melba... there's enough room for 2 cars in front of the double garage... but if you wanted to join us you could probably fit behind as the driveway is long enough :bunny:

Thanks chick, at this stage count me in. With any luck I'll get my car back in time :S

I'm going to be buying some stuff for me and Shell to clean our cars with, did you want me to pick up some stuff for you too? If so, just tell me what your planning on cleaning (e.g. Just exterior and engine bay, plastics, carpet). I've already got a bit of stuff left over from the last time I did this so I might not even have to buy much.

    • These are small points I should actually add to my original post. GKtech makes an extended slave line for this conversion. It's what I use, and it works well. You'll also need a CD009 slave cylinder.  S/R Chassis Z33/Z34 Conversion braided clutch line As for transmission sensors, you'll need to both extend the wiring and replace the connectors. I can't recall which is which, but one is your neutral switch and the other the reverse switch. As they are just switches, just test for continuity with your transmission in neutral or reverse to figure out which is which. • I’ll try and see it could be the release bearing. As for the 4th gear grind maybe clutch doesn’t disengage properly cause it is slightly like very slightly hard to go into first could be due to the slab cylinder pin being short uni clutch is a twin plate.   Ive attached some assembly photos hopefully you can open the link and see maybe detect what’s wrong https://share.icloud.com/photos/0dc2YvW__Hl6jl-l2_0jejjpg https://share.icloud.com/photos/09e0jkWOK-vP48c1cfY6u3ViA https://share.icloud.com/photos/0b4rDmh5R7pK7fb1VtND73a3g https://share.icloud.com/photos/05eeUi_6dC4DVi80jOUYDgb0g https://share.icloud.com/photos/06335TgY1XxyIJal_wkdQLhzw
    • Yeah for sure that is peddle adjustment
    • What are your thoughts on this after having it for a while, worth getting?
    • Downshifts are harder on transmissions than upshifts, the input shaft naturally slows down once disconnected from the engine so the synchros aren't doing all the work. There's no "natural" tendency for an input shaft to increase RPM. Something is not right there, I don't have a great answer on what. You can try a dedicated GL4 75W90, I plan to switch to Motorcraft XT-M5-QS which is supposedly a very good 75W90 for NB Miatas which have a weirdly sensitive transmission from the factory. I would chase down why your clutch is making a hissing noise, that's not normal. It might be no big deal but in the absence of anything else to investigate I would look at that.
