Hi everyone, I've just bought an R32 Skyline GT-R. I have to admit I am something of a noob when it comes to skylines, in fact high-performance cars in general, but it only took one plant of the right foot to realise I was driving something special. I'm looking forward to learning about what this car is capable of. I'm hoping to take delivery of it this week.

I don't know a lot about these cars so all advice is welcome. I'm not interested in being a hoon (I know a lot of you can identify with that), but I'm interested in exploring the limits of this car legally, so I'd love to have a crack at some amateur motorsport. So disappointed I missed out on the Motorvate rally, I'd love to have been there to support the cause.

At the moment I'm happy with (actually "in awe of" is more like it) this car in its current spec, but I'm interested in what I can do to make this car even more amazing.

What do I need to know about maintaining and driving this car? I don't want to break it because of some stupid mistake. I don't know a lot about how turbos work, so I'd appreciate any tips you can offer.

Welcome to SAU , theres no skyline driving hoons ? lol , depending on the kms of your rocket , the things you should look at :

Check if your turbos are ceramic , if they are , replace with bigger steel turbos for a good power upgrade in case of ceramics exploding . Get vehicle serviced and general check over , replace timing belts if unsure of previous services espescially imports ! Compression test , i spent 8k getting work done on my R32 when i first got it just to make it bullet proof and replaced all suspension rubbers but i got a bit carried away . So i suppose if you do a few major things just for piece of mind, it will save you major head f....ks down the track , service every 5000km :) Put some pics in your gallery !!!!!

I'm buying it from a dealer called Japanese Sports Autos in Melbourne, they seem reputable and are offering a comprehensive three-year warranty. It has new Garrett turbos but I don't know if they're ceramic or steel (you probably do).

Pics will certainly be forthcoming, I don't have the car yet (I'm expecting delivery any day now).
