So,

Any installation tips?

The diag port should be in the footwell on the drivers side right?

I'll cable tie it in until I come up with something more permanent.

it is just above your left foot when sitting in the drivers seat.

Scott I think I want one..

lol read abit about the touch n its on ebay for arounf $570 shipped.

They can be had cheaper than that, you just need to be either patient or have friends who have access to distributors

I have one coming from the USA at the moment, should end up costing me $350 to my door. Theres always some on YAJ, approx $350 also but then you have shipping and commission charges to get it out here.

fek i gotta stop spending money on this car.. its becoming the bermuda triangle

I know what you mean

Theres one on import monster for about $348.00 AUD. how long do these roughly take to get in?

I also called up Greddy, they said that its a simple plug n play, no extra wiring like the non OBD Cars(i Still dont know what obd is[im a noob])

Although I have only really started lookin into them today, im guiding myself to get one as I think it would help with the safety of the engine.

Create an account on IM and throw the details in to http://www.importmonster.com.au/estimate to see how much it'll actually cost to get here. I assume you understand it, but Import Monster is a 'Proxy bidding' service for YAJ [Yahoo Auctions Japan]. So they bid on the items, if they win the auction it'll rock up at a warehouse in Japan owned by IM, then they put a new address on it and stick it in the post & it rocks up at your house. Any how, that $348 item ends up being ~$530 when it arrives at your door, by my estimates at least.

10 business days is a safe time frame to say something will arrive from Japan (by air, of course), my ECU took less than that to arrive and Ive heard similar time frames from other people.

OBD refers to a standard communications protocol used by car manufacturers. Its kind of like USB for cars, the plug is near your left knee if youre sitting in the drivers seat  Our Stageas have an interesting dialect of OBDII though, they dont like talking to most OBDII readers - but the Greddy Informeters work a treat!

that's all it is....safety with the engine....just gives you live feed of whats going on after every change you make....you choice on wether you listen to whats it's telling you though....lol!....I didn't!

at least with the bermuda triangle you know ruffly where it went......my cash has disappeared down a black whole and I don't even know if there's something good on the other side

pic below of it working in my car!....not much to watch...lol!

Good image,

yeh i managed to convince my parents to buy it for me for my 21st bday coming up :D

import monster works out shipped $490.00.. Greddy said a distributor will be about $20.00 more, except ill get it the next day..

lol i think after hearing about your experience, that im gonna listen to it hahaha. is it hard to install at all? apart from the dash?..

lol black hole.. i've dubbed the black hole as "my black AR-X"

so it doesnt plug into the the passanger side? That would make it a heap easier at installing it! yeh i remember that plug thing, never really sure about what it did so thanks for the schooling :D

now just to find somewhere to put it n im ready to go get it!

Everybody,

Got it to me $500.00 shipped, should have it tomorrow.

I know I spent a little extra but... I have no patience.

It better be worth it, Ive taken all of your advice.

Another thousand and you will have the full sensor harness.

yeha total black hole.. its getting outa control..thats why i got a skyline so the mods were like buying commodore parts.

on my c34 its easy! - they don't know how true that statement is.

hahaha Thousand?

its like saying, "would you like an e-manage ultimate with that?"

yeh oh well i dont mind spending extra, i plan to keep this car ...

I wish it was as simple as a C34 or a Skyline, but I think thats what I love about the m35. u actually have to have a mindset to modify something. its not just walk into autobahn, n "oh look a doo hicky" n thats it.

received installed(just to test)

works great.

now to chop the wires to run it off fulltime power instead of the bloody Cigarette lighter.

lets hope i dont short it hahaha

STOP......

You don't need to hack the wires.... The OBD2 port powers the unit and you do not need to use the cigarette lighter at all..

;) news me to me, good tip though :bunny: I wasnt going to hack mine, I was going to eventually get my dash ripped apart because I think I have a 2nd cigarette adapter in there somewhere (Previously powered the mini disc changer)

Just plug it into the OBD2 port and it will turn off with the ignition. :bunny:

    • If doing that ^, I'd take the idle up valve out and plug the hole in the pump.
    • You can try capping the power steering idle up valve at both ends if it's old. The valve and the intake manifold. That is something that is known to fail in Toyotas with age and it will suck power steering fluid into the intake and burn it in the engine which can cause issues. Then bleed it again with engine off first. Do like 30+ lock to lock turns with the front wheels off the ground.
    • Hi Brent, I am wondering if you ever worked this out? I have upgraded this unit to a newer one and everything works bar the reverse camera, so i really want to know what plugs are what so I can patch the camera through. many thanks in advance Mike
    • Once you have to get up in the morning and be useful, you suddenly value sleep it turns out :p
    • Update:   smoke test all pipes no issues cleaned reservoir   fluid put in ( dexron 3 atf)   steering turn side to side and could hearing  gurgling from steering rack which I assumed was air lock, opened one of the steering rack connections and could see loads of air getting pushed out( not sure if you meant to do that / whether it will re introduce air into system)   anyways, loads of side to side sound was gone. Turned car on, pump was slightly ( barely) wining so turned side to side few more turns and fluid level when car on was almost none in resorvoir which I guess is normal if car is one. Turned car of and fluid was gushing out. Almost 200-300cc was pushed out. Repeated engine off side to side followed  by engine on and same result       going mad now. It seems system is either sucking air in whilst on or there is tons of air which I am not giving it enough time to bleed. Thoughts?   would it work like brake caliper if I open steering rack copper pipes and let gravity pull all air out?   or maybe have a restriction somewhere? What is the red circled item, could that be blocked? It i
