Im looking at stageas (again) and want to know what sort of power the RB25det, auto, awd driveline will handle as I have a strong 26/30 that I want to modify and fit to a wagon.

If I keep the stag auto, can it be modified enough to handle 500rwkw...?

Or should I just get a rwd and use my engine and C4...?

What diff ratios do they have...?

Any info would be great.

Cheers

Hey Rob, I like how you think...

Check out this thread... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pa...-T-t295909.html

Superjet760 is running a rips 30 and an awd auto.... I fairly shure the box is out of a cima, thats been built up.

Nothing is really going to last to long at 500rwkw anyway.

I've heard of a couple of people running old school auto's with transfer cases added to the back of them in GTR's as well... I know there are kits for the 4WD/Mud running guys to adapt transfer cases to C4/6 and glides.

Or just tub the bitch and pull wheel stands.

Worlds fastest stag??? ha ha ha.

I have heard that the stock wagon starts breaking axles at over 250kw so looking for GTR rear end for mine (although I won't be getting anywhere near 500kw). So suggest you get a 4wd and get some GTR drivetrain. Diffs are mostly around 4.1 to 1

Manual conversion would seem to be the best bet unless you want to prioritise drag racing in which case specially built auto would be the go.

I want to stick with auto if I can as when I had the manual in my 33 I kept breaking parts. Clutch... gearbox.... But thats my driving style. haha. So went with the auto.

Is there any cheap 260rs floating about with blown engines...?

Hey Rob, forget the awd... your just going to tear up transfer cases anyway.

Grab an auto stag, sell the awd rb25 and box, buy a gtr ass end and convert the front end to a 2wd rack/hubs etc...

Then chuck in your 30/26 and C4...

2wd, 500rwkw, Auto stag FTW!

Auto stagea's come with 2 different rear ends.

Some have the gtst lighter rear end and some are optioned with the heavy stronger gtr/260rs/manual stagea rear end, but have the wider (50mm) rear track

My car was originally auto and came with the heavier rear end and tail shaft option.

Cheap plug. I have removed it from my car and no longer need it. Anyone want to buy it :)

Or you could buy a factory RWD Stagea (series 2 only) and use that, and that saves you from changing the whole front suspension structure.

Yeah there is a RWD version that might be my best option as I dont want to keep breaking parts. Im over that, thats why I had the big auto built and got the 2 way diff for my 33.

It would be nice to have a taller ratio than the 4.1, maybe a 3.7 or 3.5 would be nice for a "cruiser"

What are the fattest tyres to fit under the rear of a stag...?

Dont be soft Rob... Tub it! Ha ha ha

If you go with a gtr front end... you could stich some gtr style guards on the back end?

With a push and a tuck I'm shure you can get a 10.5 controll drag tyre under there... 10.5 class here in the US run quick enough!!!

Have a look at Simon's car in the "selling my Stagea in Australia" thread - he is running 557 awkw through ten inch wheels in his modified guards (and R33 box and transfer case).

im probably gonna get flamed for this, but seriously if you plan on any track work or anything other than street driving i would go for a gtr. Simon is doing the same by the read of his thread and so am i after running a 465kw at wheel combo in my stagea.

i now run a basic 26/30 combo with small turbo in my stagea as a daily and its nice. Im sure an auto with stall and that power u mention isnt gonna be nice on the street.

Also most stageas need a rear end upgrade and handling isnt that crash hot compared to a skyline, but great for a wagon.

Dont get me wrong i love my stagea and have been on these forums since mid 2004 when i got it and did the 26 conversion but i have been through all the stages and all my running gear is going into a 32 gtr. My stagea will finally be featured in HPI magazine in the coming months too so check it out :D

Brads the man with all the answers!

Been waiting for it to come out in HPI taken for ever!

Hey Neil, yer its been sooo long i got the original engine shots done november 2008 lol and pulled motor and it took soo long to get back running and regoed with 30 setup i finally got the rest of the shots done a few months ago, so looking around the july/august or so mark going by the delay in articles, maybe earlier. Pity 99% of the pics i only had the 33 gtr rims on and not the nismo lmgt2s.

I cant beleive yours is still for sale, especially being sooo cheap. The market is shocking at the moment >_<

You're dead right. I reckon 250 - 270 awkw is heaps for the street. Because i'm poor (can't afford more than 1 car) I am going RB30 looking for 330 awkw but that will be it. It's quite good on the track but so many less powerful smaller cars can perform well on the track. If my finances improve I too will be looking for an R32 GTR to do up for a dedicated track car.
