Why bother playing Russian roulette with a cheap knock off turbo when they are barely cheaper than genuine Garrett plain bearing turbos which you KNOW will be fine? It seems like the only options considered are a bling ball bearing Garrett GT-series, or a cheap nasty plain bearing one. There are in betweens people.

And really, if you can't afford to spend a little more on just the turbo - then you are heading down a path you can't afford to...

Precision plain bearing turbos can be had for $900US

Heard some good reviews about Masterpower Turbos aswell, very popular in the US, especially with the Turbo Mustang crowd. However they are only available in external gate.

Just over $900 for a brand new turbo that has the same power producing capability as GT35/40.
