Sr20 Into R31 How Hard?

Hi im new here and was jsut wondering how hard it is to put an sr20 into a r31. i have all the wiring and the computer. What i need to know is would the motor bolt onto the manual transmission in the car already. Any info would be great. Thanks

with the right cross member it couldn't be to hard people put RB25's into S14's and stuff

Yeah theres no problem with me wiring it up i am an auto lekky by trade. just need to know if the engine mounts in all good and transmission will line up.

well, knowing you can put CA18s in, it shouldnt be hard. from memory, theres a guy on 31 club that put a SR20DE into a pintara. think if you use a pintara crossmember its possible. chuck in a search over here

why would you go SR though??? Nothing wrong with upgrading the Rb to an R32 one or going the Rb25 route....

well a sr 20 wont bolt up to an existing transmission i wouldnt think... different engines = different bellhousings, better off getting a engine/gbox package, theres a few good packages on nissansilvia.com

why would you bother going the SR road rather then keeping the RB in there....just would make more sense

Put a Pintara front crossmember in your car, and it's pretty much a bolt in job. But no your current gearbox wont bolt up to an SR20, you will need an SR box.

haha thanks for all the answers i have 2 r31's 1 is a pintara and the other is a normal gx. yeah as damo r34 said i want to do something different.

the pintara cross member works because the CA20 that comes in them uses the same mounts a CA/SR motor... one of my mate put a CA18 in and that was different... the standard CA20 box bolts up to a CA18 also... maybe that would be the path to go

otherwise the SR will be great but you need a SR box to and possibly a custom tailshaft

SR's are nearly half the weight of an RB, so it makes sense to me. My workmate has an SR in his Cefiro and that thing pulls hard.

There is a point to the madness

SR's are lighter and sit further back in engine bay for better weight distribution

Well he could chuck a W16 in if he wanted to, but hes asking about an SR.
